LightWeight Evo

I wanted to start a post on Lightweight modifications/parts myself and other EVOM members have done along with pros and cons of the mods.
Here are some components I have installed/removed. Please post mods you have done along with pictures.

AMS Lightweight Battery

Pros: -20lb, Cleans up engine bay
Cons: Looses Charge if you let it sit over a month, but charges right back on a trickle charger.

AMS Front Cross Member/Engine Mount

Pros: -7lb, engine doesent move
Cons: engine doesent move and rattles the **** out of you

AMS Rear Mustache Bar Eliminator

Pros: -13lb, eliminates annoying knock from rear diff during heavy shifts.
Cons: Creates annoying knock during normal shifts.

QuarterMaster Twin Clutch

Pros: -10 lb rotational mass, engine revs quicker, shifts faster.
Cons: Disks rattle when clutch is disengaged, not exactly silky smooth.

My own little mod. Reason: To properly fit AEM EMS unit.
Before

After

Pros: AEM EMS is not sagging anymore, -.6lb
Cons: None

I hope you enjoy this thread, all and all my evo weighs around 50.6 pounds less than stock. For those of you who are not willing to give up drivability for performance then at least know you know a mod that can drop your evo by .6lbs.

Cool. I just took out the crap subs that guy had in it when I bought it. Haha. Then I took out the spare tire and jack which saves about 25 pounds? Nice to save that weight but if I ever got a flat I'd be screwed. I think I have too much pride than to put that spare on the car anyways. Ha Next step will be the Lightweight Battery.

You really cant go wrong with a light weight battery, It cleans up the engine bay soooo much. The stock battery is F@#$ing huge, getting rid of it was one of my first mods.

Thanks, I think loosing weight is something that is often overlooked in terms of performance.

Please post pictures of lightweight modifications you have performed.

Thanks

D.

^ EGR/fpr/intake manifold stay/evap canister is just a ton of **** that can be removed when removing the stock intake manifold. I never knew so much crap could go! I'm thinking about removing my crash beams too.. don't plan on crashing so I don't want the beams
