Curbed a wheel, shop recommendation?
Curbed a wheel, shop recommendation?
Hi all,
Bad ending to a good night last night. I was coming home around 12:30am last night dead tired. I was taking a right into my neighborhood and misjudged my angle. Ended up curbing 6"s of one of my CE28N lips pretty damn good. To say the least I was pissed at myself for not paying attention.
I was on S2Ki and saw Seattle Wheel as a good recommendation. Any others? Im hoping they can fix it and paint match the lip perfect (red).

Dependable Wheel Repair in Renton. Had my wheel straightened there and get my tires shaved there.

Another vote for Cascade wheel...you simply don't need to look anywhere else. Mike performed a minor miracle on my Fikse wheel lip and I literally couldn't be happier with his work. He was on-time (met me on his day off), his price was unbelievably fair (ie: I couldn't believe it) and the end result was spectacular.
I would recommend his services to anyone. He could double his prices and still be a sensational deal, and he is a nice guy to boot.

Does he paint wheels as well?
seattle wheel uses some cool machine tools that actually bend the wheel back into place and and uses a special process to fill the wheel and make it look new

He offers powdercoating and also some limited painting services. I didn't go into detail about that with him since I only needed minor paintwork and he handled it without specific instructions or details. I did discuss powdercoating and he showed me a few examples of his work, but he expressed serious reservations about performing powdercoating to a 2 or 3 piece wheel and showed me why. After seeing the work first-hand, I could understand why powdercoating makes the most sense for 1 piece wheels (or possibly multi-piece wheels that are disassembled).
For the case of my Fikse wheel, he machined material away from the lip itself to repair a curbed lip. He has a very specialized piece of equipment (awesome to see in person btw) that allows him to do this precision machining.
BTW...I'm not trying to bash any competitors to his, but I searched around for quite some time to find a shop of Cascade Wheel's caliber and was simply thrilled that my repair turned out so well.

Steve! Pleasure to see you over here as well from SF. Figured you'd be here around somewhere being a MKIV turned Evo owner as well.
I will really need to look into Cascade as well. Volk CE28N's are forged ofcourse, and the great reviews are encouraging. I believe Seattle Wheel Repair is in Ballard, where is Cascade?

Sorry to bump an old thread but where did the TS end up going? I am hoping to get my wheel fixed in the next week or so and wanted to know if Seattle Wheel repair did a good job.
