definitely good point about the timing, Graph (too lazy to look up your name, haha). Timing is key, and keeping it quick is where it is at! SFF == Small Form Factor, btw. micro-ATX or smaller (but usually micro-ATX gets me what I want). Since my gaming system mostly goes to LAN parties with me I like being able to fit everything nice and neat inside one of those standard plastic tub things.

I'm mostly a Silverstone whooore for cases the last few years (great designs), and I used to pack some of their towers to LAN parties but I just got tired of it all. Plus, me and my buddy usually hit the LAN's together in the Evo or in my little S10 and packing two towers, two 27" Dell's (the legit Alu-min-ium shells!) and two plastic bins worth of crap was getting a little tight.

Speaking of cases, make sure you get a good case. That is the base for your system and can mean a lot of the difference for keeping the temps down. Also, any case that has plenty of room for routing cables and keep thing generally clean will not only look good but it will also help keep the cool air flowing in and the hot air out!

As for monitors, I lucked myself into a Dell 27" a few years back and haven't looked back. I had a Dell 30" for a while which was amazing, but it was just too big so I sold it (you should have been around for that deal, Andrew!). I don't do my PC gaming close to my monitor so it didn't make sense. Big screen gaming is what the plasma is for, or the PJ when I want to get kee-razy.

Yea it was basically like half off. But the i7 deal was even crazier. 900 dollar processor for about 600 dollars off.

I found the video on Youtube you're talking about. The samsung SSD 24 of them? That is insane. Not really practical though. 600 a piece = 14.4K. You could buy a used evo for that! It is ridiculously fast though. I'm not that in need for instant speed, 1 SSD is quick enough for regular applications for me. When am I ever going to start every program on my comp, or even every MS office app.? Never. Would be kind of cool though haha. But, because of you and your youtube video I kind of want to do 2-3 striped. I'm kind of Love-hating you right now.

As for the monitors. Currently I'm running two 23 inch samsung LED monitors. (The last gen I believe. P2370?..forgot the model #)
Along with a 46" Samsung LED TV 6000 series. Again, about 8 months old. I want samsung to some out with a 120+ hz monitor. I would buy them in a heartbeat. I don't really seem to have an issue with blurring though. And samsung JUST came out with a 27" 1 ms response time monitor. I might borrow one and test it out.

By the way all, I just invested in a new LED 120 hz 24 inch monitor. OMG!!!!

The HUGE difference comes in that things remain recognizable and clear while you turn, jump and run.... unlike my other 24" 2ms Asus (awesome monitor by the way) that blurs a bit when turning fast or jumping.

The 120 hz makes ALL the difference. I've not had a game under 4000 points since. It's a BIG advantage. I definitely recommend it.

Oh lol, I should have known that. I've PCR'd so many SFF machines out of the labs. Thank god they are finally tossing them all and converting everything to 1U+'s.

Does anyone play Forza 3 still?

I didn't either... until I played side by side, standard 2ms LCD at 75 hz versus 2ms at 120 hz. I couldn't believe that I could actually SEE a difference. But before, you couldn't have convinced me there was ANY difference.

Response time is only half the equation... cycles, I've learned, are the other half.

I did see that 1ms monitor, it's impressive. No doubt. But I'm gonna stick with the 120s from now on

120hz refresh is the sheeit! I used to set an old CRT to lower resolution just so I could play that way (without frying my eyeballs). If you aren't sure, watch TV at 120hz (on a good recent LCD/Plasma, anyway).

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure plasmas don't work that way.

I see plasma listed at 600hz all the time, so I'm sure there is a difference in how it all works and translates.

I just can't wait until monitors are available at 240hz like alot of new LED TV's

they don't refresh the same as LCDs (which is why they can still be prone to burn-in) but they still refresh. Watch a plasma rated at 120Hz or higher and you will definitely see a difference.

I'm a Samsung fiend though..I love their TV's and monitors. I have 7 in my house right now..and I'm picking up a 65" LED 8000 series in Jan. well see if I enjoy 240hz more than 120. I would probably trade up my monitors to a 120hz+ if Samsung came out with it. I'm always too picky about my electronics, and I don't want to test a new brand..would be pretty pissed if it had any problems when I could have stuck with my 0 issue samsung products. *knock on wood*
