Where is my 3rd gear!

first time posting... 06 IX MR SE black. Bellevue. Anyone have experience with a tranny shop on the east side?

If you want to hear the sad story, you can read below:

Lightly modded with an english racing flash / tune putting 345 awhp at 23 psi on pump gas. Car was stock up till 60k miles then all mods done during a weekend. Clutch starts slipping within 500 miles. Replaced with ACT street full clutch kit and prolight flywheel. As I am driving home from having the clutch replaced, I go into 3rd gear and as I come off the clutch it is as if the car is in neutral. Tried all of the other gears and they all work and pull fine including reverse. I have the 6 speed and from what I have seen online it is not worth swapping to the 5 speed because I don't drag and do not plan on adding any more power. Car has been sitting for over a week now while I call around deciding where to get it fixed. Any advice is appreciated.

If you don't want to do the work yourself, ER.

ER did my tune and have a very reasonable price for rebuilding it. I was just thinking that it will be 1,020 miles of driving back and forth to drop the car off and about 12 hours of driving total... wasn't sure if their rebuild was worth all of the extra miles and time. Also I was thinking that a tranny shop is always working on them and will be able to fix it just as well... could be wrong, i know very little about evo tranny work. thanks for the feedback guys.

Unfortunately there are very few shops that I would trust with your evo Transmission in these areas. The most failed attempts at fixing Evo transmission I have seen is from the Dealer.

If you are in Bellevue still its only 187mi about 3hr. I see you say east side so I am thinking Spokane area which is 5hr one way.

Did they fill the trans with fluid ?

5spd is a great way to go but a failed 3rd in a 6spd is very strange. 3rd is bigger in the 6spd then the 5spd.

If I were you, I'd find a way to get it down to ER. They are the best!

If you're in Bellevue, it's more like 600 miles round trip... About 2.5 hours each way.

I see what he is saying that its 2 full round trips, 180 x 4 is still only 720. However we do offer to pick up cars and trailer them down for 400 if there is only one car and 200 if we can find another one. A train ticket down to vancouver is 99 last time I checked and we can pick you up at the station.

Its possible to make it easy, time frame is still gonna be the same, but hassle level is WAY LESS.

Do you live in Lakemont? Keep seeing a IX MR SE up there but he never gives a wave or anything.

+1 for ER, and for rocking a 5-spd conversion from a 6-spd, as well as many trips in the trailer. If you don't want to worry about your tranny and what you might do power-wise in the future, I'd recommend doing the swap.

Sorry to hear about 3rd. I lost 3rd and 4th at the same time, but thankfully my car decided to give it up in my garage as opposed to the top of Mt. Baker!

Driving to ER today. Thanks for the info guys.

ps - I calculated the miles based on having someone follow me down so I can get a ride home and also someone drive me back down there to pick up the car. But quality work will be worth the drive.
