Short Shifters for the MR

I have an Evo IX MR which is a six speed and I want to put a short shifter in it. Problem is I cant find anyone who makes anything other than 5 speed shifters, I heard it has to do with some thing about having to mod the linkage for the 6 speed shifter. anyone know where to find them or anywhere that will install them?

Not sure what the difference it between the 5spd and 6spd, but I believe TWM makes one for 6spd's. They are a vendor on here.

Works makes one, but they won't ship it, only install it.

I have the WORKS one on my MR and I love it. I think the reason they are reluctant to ship it is they don't want people messing up the install and blaming their product (as is actually alters the shifter linkage).

Maybe call them and see if they are willing to let anyone local do the install of it for you. I know some Mitsubishi dealers use to be authorized WORKS dealers/installers.

Also I know Aaron at ER has looked into how its done, so I am sure he could do it.

Works is the only option for the 6-speed.

When I looked into this a long time ago, some of their authorized east coast dealers were not allowed to perform the install. I'm not sure if they're still holding the install secrets close to their chest. The few who had it installed have nothing but rave reviews about it.

It's not the same, but have you tried underhood shifter bushings? Made a big difference for me.

I wish I could get one! The 6 speed is begging for one.

They just drill and repin the shifter cable to the bracket. I dont think Works is really a business anymore based on the grapevine. Its definitely not hard, I had pictures of it at one point but not sure where they went.

If you could find those pictures and get them to me that would be amazing the only problem that is still there is finding the 6 speed shifter since according to everyone I talk to works is the only one that makes them or has made them

I have the WORKS short throw (for about a 1 1/2 years) on my IX-MR and LOVE it! Well worth it! You must send them your core...I also have their shifter console bushings, under hood bushings, etc. WORKS ftw!

^^^ So Bell can or can't do it? I marvel at your ability to monitor multiple evo sites and have answers within minutes H.
