2003 Outlander to Airtrek conversion

Hello I want to share my outlander build which has been on going since 2015
i have acquired a lot of info on converting a usdm outlander to an Airtrek and it’s quite easy.

The exterior has all Oem Airtrek parts along with some add-ons.

Engine, I kept the stock 4g64 bottom end and used a Kia/Hyundai Dohc head loaded with evo8 cams and valve train. Oem Airtrek TMIC and evo8 TD05HR and evo8 intake and exhaust manifolds. It’s pretty much the basic Dohc conversion used by 8G Galant owners and turbo set up. The Kia head and 4g64 bottom end combination results in a nice and low 8.1:1 compression ratio that’s good for boost. I’m using a 2004 Lancer AT ecu flashed with big maps for boost (Plug and play with 2003 outlander)

That's awesome! I like the white and roof pack looks mint!

Your poor little top mount will be really working hard with the td05.. was too small for the Airtrek turbo as it was...

yes this top mount is tiny compared to the evo8 front mount. I have plans to run water injection. I already moved my power steering bottle and made room in the left side of the engine bay. I also made a nice cover to conceal the pump and reservoir

lhd outlander dash will physically fit fine but you will also need to use the outlander center console. You also have to make a new hole in the firewall for the steering column and swap the entire outlander subframe and steering rack. Sounds like a pain but it’s possible. Your country doesn’t allow rhd cars?

Some new updates

converted to keyless push button ignition

I decided to install a wireless phone charger

it’s blue when not changing and turns red when it’s charging

Suede headliner and I changed the map lights console

not everyone is gonna like this one but I changed the grab handles to ones from a Maserati Quatroportte 😁

and last but not least, I gave the headliner the starlight treatment

I also found a set of “custom floormats” for 2003-2006 outlanders on AliExpress. I didn’t really believe anyone would manufacture custom floor mats for an old Mitsubishi that wasn’t very popular but I ordered a set anyway, to my surprise they really fit perfectly. It did take 2 months delivery from china to usa and it was shipped folded in a box so they were pretty wrinkled, I’m hoping the wrinkles will smooth out in a few weeks

I'm guessing there is ZERO chance this is gonna be seen, let alone get a related reply even.. but I was wondering.. How did you deal with the RHD headlight-situation?
Did you modify the reflector cup in the headlight, or did you somehow find European style "flat + right-side upwards" beam pattern, or U.S flat-beam ones?

I'm wanting to do a Airtrek Conversion on my Outlander and I'm struggling with the headlight-beam situation (as JDM RHD beams are not legal here in Norway where I'm from, but U.S "flat-beam" is legal, even though we have "left-side flat, right angle-up"-beams here, aka "european headlight beam pattern"), been finding some seemingly LHD Airtreks in videos on youtube, that seem to be "stock" cars.. but have no clue what the headlights are like (if they are LHD with RHD-beams etc)

They had outlander in the USA. Can't you just get some from a wrecker and mail them over?
