We just recently had our first oil change from the dealer, they use synthetic, not sure which brand it is, but I'll be looking into what brand I'll stick with when we start doing our own changes. (my 14yr old girl does them. )
I don't have any research done yet on filters but I do like the Bosch and Wix brands.

We just changed to 10% ethynol in both the 87oct. and 89oct. blends but our premium 91, is still ethynol free. (we have Shell 93oct. but it is laced with ethynol)
Since my Sonata 2.0T uses premium, I'll run that in the OS if we fill up at the same time. Now I'm looking at using the 89oct w/ ethy-blend and running a cleaner every few tanks.

IL has 10% ethanol blend in every grade. I tested 87 vs. 93 octane for several weeks/tanks and saw no evidence of increased performance or fuel economy outside of the first tank (chalking it up as an anomaly). However, ethanol vs. non-ethanol should show results.

We did better with 87 NON ethanol than 89 with it.
Both power and mileage were better, especially on road trips.
What do you use for a system cleaner? (if any)

For Oil I'm debating Penzoil Platnum 0W-20, or Castrol. (might look at 0W-30 for summer)

I've used SeaFoam but I've heard good things about the 3M fuel system cleaner, so I am going to give that a shot next.

Www.bobistheoilguy.com is a forum with a LOT of great info on fuel, oil, and additives.

I had these saved on amazon for my next oil change. I remember originally researching it and these items were my conclusion as to which oil filter and oil I would use. Although that was a month ago and could not explain my logic now.

I run Mobil 1 0w-20 . Synthetic oil that is solid, and we saw mpg go up slightly. I also run the Mobil oil filter, m-104 part number, same for Outlander Sport, Lancer, and Evolution.

Even my wife noticed an increase in performance and mpg, along with the k and n filter. The stock dynaqueen Mitsubishi 0w-20 is fine, but the Mobil oil is much better.

Oh and we use chevron techron complete fuel system cleaner every 10k. The evo only sees shell 93 v power or mobil 93 exclusively. My wife gets the cheap stuff, 87 for the Sport, but we run a few tanks of shell time to time to clean it, or the Techron treatment.

Royal Purple is good stuff.

I wonder how the Outlander Sport would like Shell Rotella T6? I'll have to look into whether anyone has tried it in a 4B11 and what the results were.

With the synthetic oil, is there any benefit to changing the type of oil for the winter in the O Sport?

this is exactly what I use!

I used mobil1 in my eclipse turbo, my evo, genesis, and now the outlander sport. Works great and can get a 5qt. jug at wal mart for like $23

I run the Rotella T6 (5W-40) in my Sonata turbo with a partial quart of Mobil 1 turbo desiel truck formula in the same weight. Other Subi and Evo turbos swear by this. "It does perform well".
NOT having a turbo, I think a top detergent property oil would be best for this Ute, and I'm sure the oil life would be fine for 7K mile intervals. The Hyundai 2.0 motor is pretty much a copy of the 4B11, so I was curious what others are using for a non boosted I4.

Royal PPL "IS" good stuff, I only get it if it's on sale or I gotta promo code.

Since I only have 630 miles on the odo I am still on the stock oil but as far as fuel goes, usually I would just go to wherever is the cheapest, however, since this is our first new car I looked into what the "best fuel" might be. Most places I read up on it said that Chevron has the best fuel, since I don't have of those around here, people say that Shell would be a close second best and that is what I have been using. I believe it is laced with 10% ethanol but I am pretty sure all the fuel around here is at leat 10% ethanol (correct me if I am wrong.

Oil: Stock till 1st oil change
Fuel: Shell - Regular Unleaded 87

Most stations now will give you fuel mixtures with 10% ethanol. The main difference is how well the staff checks/maintains their storage tanks. (if at all...)
You just have to get to know the station folks (over time) to really know.

And, about the motor oil. You should be able to get your stock oil changed (covered by Mitsu) just by asking your service advisor during your 1st regular service schedule (@ ~7,000-ish) They use it as a loss-leader to up sale you with other stuffs/services (in my case $19 tire rotation, $39 OEM window shade, $26 cabin filter, etc etc.)

I threw them a bone and paid for the tire rotation.

wow.. talk about high margins!

I know they have those $10 off coupons for accessories they mail out on occation... so our OEM cabin filter would have worked out to be $16 after that, but it would still be the plain jane filter.

I wanted ones with carbon infused filters.
