Heated mirror cracked



On the way to work Friday morning my drivers side mirror cracks after turning the defrosters on . I went to the dealer ship right after work and they took pictures and are sending them in to the warranty dept . T he service writer said he has had 2 others come in in the last 2 weeks .
Friday morning was about 8 degrees when I went to work but it has been alot colder when I have used the defrosters so Im not sure why it cracked but hopefully Mitsu will cover it

The heater is just on or off, no in-between settings... guess it heated up right at that particular thermo limit of the glass.

You're still under warranty so I wouldn't loose any sleep over it.


PS:
Thanks for finding out the correct fatigue temperature of our mirrors... at ~ 8°.

Yep that's what I have figured , I have a whopping 5800 miles on it ...lol. I will let you guys know what happens

I just called my dealership and they said it's not covered by warranty (in Canada)

It's kind of hard to figure it wouldn't be covered with having 2 or 3 come into the dealership with in a week here ..but you never know what they will cover ...if they don't cover it I will complain ..
mRVR yes it's just an on or off system tired in with the rear window defroster .

I'm thinking of collecting on all examples from different members and then sending it off to Mitsubishi corporate for further review. However, it looks like this issue is a one off kind of thing so it may be hard to but up a case.

I called Platinum only, and it was a service girl who picked up. Maybe I'll give Hyatt a call tomorrow.

Ok....... Mitsubishi does not cover the cracked mirror .
But because my dealer likes us and we have 2 OS's which both went in for their first oil changes this morning ...my dealer ship changed the mirror glass for free saved me 135 bucks .. thank you very much..
