Your Kidding. No text voice for Android in Mitsu?
Your Kidding. No text voice for Android in Mitsu?
So I finally give up on Verizon coming out with the Windows 10 update or a new Windows 10 phone, and get the new HTC 10 (android system)
I get the phone paired and I'm getting used to it's function but really missing the simplicity yet super computer function of my Windows phone.
I wasn't getting texts coming through to my blue tooth in the car, so I goto Verizon, they can't help, blame dealer, go to dealer, we try everything. They say we've never seen one work like that, I say your kidding. I pair my wifes Windows phone, send her a text and the car responds like it used to. It says through my speaker, "You got a text from ****, would you like to read it, or ignore". I say "read it", then the car reads me the text and says, "Reply, Call Back, or I'm done". I say "I'm done", and it goes back to radio.
The guys are holding their mouths open like "Holy Crap, your car can read texts to you"??? So I ask why can't my "new" phone do it? They say maybe my new phone is to advanced, they look up some Mitsubishi Fuse, consumer link and find that it's only something with Window's phones that can do this.
Are you kidding me??? Can anyone verify this?
Does anyone else get texts spoken to them in their car via blue tooth, just like they are able to get calls?
I'm SOOOOOO disappointed in my NEW phone. I miss my Windows ICON, if anyone knows a fix or app for this, please post. This doesn't seem legit that this function wouldn't work; both the car and the phone are 2016's......

i have never even met anyone who owns a Windows phone ... and i work for Verizon.
Go to the Mitsubishi fuse system website and check the compatibility with certain phones for the features offered it doesn't do it for every phone , and also check your Bluetooth version as well. The site will tell you everything you need to know. and since its a new phone its probably not supported yet

I took pics on my phone in my office and saved them on the camera roll on a coworkers phone that was sitting there. He was baffeled, and started going crazy about calling the FBI, lol. Now he turns off his blue tooth when i'm around.
But, this isn't about phones, it's about why I don't have the same functions I had before. Perhaps it's too new, but I'll have to keep digging into it and find out whats up.

what's funny about that, is so does my nephew. I get told all the time about how the "hype" phones (Android / Apple systems) are so much better. But my Windows phone was always faster and easier to navigate. Some of us users in the windows forums were even good at accessing other phones through their blue tooth. lol

Now to the matter at hand -
Assuming you have the latest release of Android (6.0 Marshmellow).. Goto:
Settings/
Language & Input/
(scroll down to) Text-to-Speech output
make sure it's activated, then
click the "i"
make sure you "install a voice data"
Just make sure it's not in Hindi or you're going to have your SMS read back to you with an india accent*

* that's not unless you're into that...

If you think the FUSE system is crap, you should see how poor Nissan's is in the new Pathfinder. Ugh. Can't even stream music via BT! (Unless you pony up 5Gs for the Platinum Bose system).
you don't want the Bose system - i have it in my G37. needed to add a powered sub and do EQ correction via smartphone apps to get it sounding good.
do you have an AUX input (RCA or miniplug) in your Nissan?
Both my wifes 14 and my new 16 (both with no NAV) had this capability. Soon as switched from a Windows phone to an android, that capability went away. I don't think it's the newness of the phone. Wife and kid just got new Samsung S7s and now they don't get read through the cars BT either. THIS SUCKS>!.!>!>!>!
No luck on the setting I tried earlier. Gonna keep reaching out and searching for an answer. "IF" or when I find one, I'll report what I had to do to get it to work.
Being able to receive and reply to texts was Awesome, and really kept things safe and hands free.
Damn you Verizon! should have released the windows 10 update....

a Google search turned up this:
"In my previous car I got a notification on the car system that I had a text. I could then get the car to display it or even to read it out. I could then reply with a prior template text even while I was driving. After getting the PHEV I simply could not lose this facility.
My solution is an App for Android for £2.49 called SMS, my Car and Me. I have it set to activate when it detects my PHEV's bluetooth connection, and to simply read out all received texts over the MMCS. It all works to perfection. It does have optional voice control to ask if you want the text reading out aloud, or to reply with a template text. This seems to work on a very quick test I did but just having a text automatically read out is all I needed.
Hope this helps someone. No connection other than as a satisfied customer "

from the same thread, this app appears to work:

i believe Automate also does this - i have it, but don't use it much, i can't confirm. kind of Android Auto for those who don't have an AA headunit.

where Android wins over Windows phone - there are apps for practically everything.
Tried the automate too, NO luck again. Argh........
Also tried it on the Samsung Galaxy S7 the wife just picked up Saturday and no go on that phone either.
Something so simple, you'd think Android and Apple would copy this feature onto their phones as well. Hell, at least developing an APP that can actually be used to copy it would be a step in the right direction.
Honestly, I thought something was wrong with the phone or cars software. I couldn't believe the other 2 makers weren't able to get texts read through their BT. Imagine how many lives could be saved by making the hands free reading and replaying standard functions of the phone???
I think I need to patent an app. lol
