What do you guys carry to comply with WA State Patrol when they require AWD vehicles to carry chains? I see that Peerless has the Super Z6 and only require 6.3mm of clearance. Also, WA State Patrol recognizes the AutoSock type as an alternate traction device. Do any you ever used these? So far I haven't had any issues with the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 and they are approved tire since they are a M+S tire. I can get Blizzzaks but WASP still requires to carry chains. Thanks for the help.

Greetings Rome831,

Insofar as chains go. The law says you need to carry chains. It does not say they have to fit the car. It only becomes an issue if you get stuck; stop traffic; and they have to call a tow truck to remove you from blocking the road. Then yes, the WSP will inquire about your chains. But really you have an Evo one of the best AWD drive cars created. Combine your Evo with Real Winter Tires such as the Hankook Ice bear, Bridgestone Blizzak, or pirelli sottozero 3 (my personal favorite) and you can go just about anywhere in the snow. (remember even AWD and Winter Tires can't beat getting high centered, LOL)

Enjoy!

if I’m reading the info about this law correctly, it only requires you to have chain above a certain elevation for 4x4 and AWD vehicles.

Moved to the PNW in October and I've been here a bit. Just looking to post up and 'meet' others in the area.

Right on man, whereabouts? I'm relatively new to the PNW also. Which evo you got?

Its an 06 Evo 9, and I'm in south lake Sammamish. I've had a long history with cars. 1st Gen Miata, 240sx Coupe, IS300 2jz Manual, Mustang Ecoboost, and some other odds and ends. Right now in the garage is a LS swapped 90 RX-7 FC.

=)

Nice. My uncle had a few RX7s when I was a little kid...an 85 GSL-SE and an 87 Turbo II. He tried teaching me heeltoe downshifting/rev matching when I was like 8 lol....needless to say the info was a bit lost on me at the time but later on was pretty cool. The LS swap I bet makes that FC pretty interesting.

I'm up in Marysville...not too far. Maybe 40 min or so? I have a 2003 8. Actually went cruising around Bellevue/Mercer Island area this past weekend since the weather was nice.

Would be cool to throw a little meet together.

Greetings! Anyone still here? I've got one of my Evo's for sale if the market place is still worthwhile I'll post it there.

Hey, still here. Seems like the best bet is to post it here, there and everywhere.
