Any recommended shops around the Seattle area?
Any recommended shops around the Seattle area?
I purchased an '06 Evo SE a month ago with 75,000 and I would like to take it to a shop to make sure that the maintenance is up to date. I'm also noticing more "bogging" before the boost hits. I never noticed this when I test drove the vehicle. Is this a boost leak or just normal turbo lag? Sorry for the newb questions. This is my first turbo vehicle so I'm learning as I go. Thank you for your time.
What area are you looking for? There are a lot of shops around here. Ishii, CNC, Speedware (I highly don't recommend them), Cantrell
By maintenance, I'm guessing you mean the 60k service? there's really no way to check that except to guess at the wear on the belts and if they look decent. If you want to be certain, the only way is to do the 60k again. You can purchase all the parts from mitsubishiparts.net or streettunedmotorsports.com (the evo 9 kit with water pump) for about $550 + shipping and have a shop do the service for about $400 for labor and everything

Yeah I'm the "better safe than sorry" type of person so I'll go ahead and purchase the kit and round up some buddies that are "gear heads" to help me out lol. Is it normal for the car to bog before the turbo hits? My car seemed to pull a lot harder and smoother when I first purchased it. Maybe something came loose or the car just needs new spark plugs and fresh oil? I live in the Kent area so I'm willing to travel a little to go to a good shop. I plan on taking it down to English Racing in the future to get some more go power but for now I just need it running smoothly since it's my DD.

Call Will at A&W Automotive down in auburn. tell him I (Alex) sent you to him and he'll hook it up with the timing service if you bring the parts. great guy and his shop does great work. number of local evos have had their 60k services done there
Catback exhaust or drop in filter you can install without a tune. If you go turbo back or different intake then you'll want to make sure your tuned for it.
Most Evo owners around Seattle and Portland area would recommend talking to English Racing.
