Well, if you haven't had your car tuned for an intake, I don't see how putting the stock airbox on would make the car run too rich. I wouldn't think that it would be any richer than stock.

Yeah but when I got tuned they maxed out the fuel maps. I'm not sure how it all works, but I figured that would mean I would run rich.

I have a question. If the UR intake was making the car run lean, isn't the O2 sensor supposed to compensate?

What about Injen's CAI. Has anyone bought it and taken it to then Dyno and check if it runs lean or not. It is supposed to be tuned from factory. Has anyone check this out?

injen's intake is not a CAI.......

your O2 sensor only does what its called, its a sensor, it wont compensate for fuel.....

ok i havent been keeping up with this thread or any for a long time but, to my understanding, this issue is with the UR intake right? i had my car tuned by TTP and i wasnt told about this problem...why would he have this issue with that RA and not with mine??

cant wait for my email flash to come in.. just ordered it plus open port 2.0 cable

good question, maybe TTP can chime in......

i have the UR intake and it was tuned by AMS and I didn't have any problems with it also.

Does any K&N filter can mess up the AFR?Only drop in filter.

Please explain?

Has anyone maybe emailed Injen about there intake messing with the AFR?

TTP Engineering Jul 28, 2009 02:35 PM

We have not dynotested an INJEN intake for Ralliart at this time so we cannot comment on its impact on the AFR.

We can comment on the Evo X intake version which still runs very rich over 18psi.

The Injen makes the AFR rich because the LTFT at cruise hits +6%. Once you adjust the trims and make them steady at around 0%, then you do not have to lean out the fuel map too much.

I tuned an Evo X with an Injen intake and logged the LTFT-cruise for 45 minutes and they maxxed out at +6%. Then I adjusted the latencies down and tuned the boost. As I tuned the boost with multiple WOT runs, the trims fell to 0.19% and stayed there. I saw the AFR getting slightly leaner as the LTFT fell. THEN I adjusted the AFR slightly. I did not have to lean out the fuel map much to get the consistent and steady WOT AFR of 11.5:1 and tapering to 11:1 by redline.

If you are not adjusting the latencies to have a rock solid LTFT, then the AFR at WOT is going to change whenever the LTFT changes.

BTW, the AEM intake makes the LTFT on an Evo X even more positive at +10.9-11.9%.

On the Evo X making the LTFT-cruise rock solid is a must for getting a steady, consistent and repetitive AFR at WOT.

No this is incorrect. We have installed the injen kit while on the dyno and done the testing with no time for long term fuel trims to change.
