Hybrid sports cars have always sounded like a good idea to me. Get great mileage when your daily driving and tons of power only when you want it. How can you not like it?

I think it has potential and I'm not going to write it off just yet. But what some might not like is the possible looks, as hybrids so far have not been the most attractive cars IMO. Also the price, as they tend to cost more. The weight. The technology (opens it up to more issues then a straight engine car). The price of the battery replacements, as they only last for so many years. And im not sure but Im thinking it may be pricy or difficult to mod.

I hate any hybrid or electric cars tbh

I have not met a hybrid vehicle that is easy to mod... so while dd being 30mpg sounds great, we will just have to wait and see. Another noteworthy stat will be trying to tune a hybrid. Personally I have no hybrid tuning experience but it doesn't sound fun.

If Mitsubishi does it right, you won't be measuring just MPG. It will most likely be MPGe. From what I've seen of their plug-in platforms to date, they'll look more like Ford's Energi models than anything else on the road. That seems to be the sizing Mitsubishi is using for their batteries, anyway.

In regards to tuning the power train, I think that would be a welcome challenge. Several of the plug-in vehicles available right now already have people feverishly working on tuning those vehicles for greater performance. And it is not as though this is some brave new world of software based tuning; 90% of the tuning I did on my X was software based.

The way I see it, Mitsubishi has two choices: Make this EVO, or shutter their doors. Because, frankly, not making the EVO is the equivalent of quitting, in my opinion.

The Turbo diesel will come around 2015-2016. As of now HB Mitsubishi currently have the new 2014 Evo X. Same design and a new RF unit and Navi unit.

You guys who are against hybrid tech need to look up the definition of "evolution". :p

It's the future. Without a doubt.

People said the same **** about "fuel injected" cars back in the 80s. Just look at us now...

This. The EVO has always been about high tech on an economical platform. People need to stop crying about and wishing for a 4G63 powertrain... That god-awful engine somehow lasted ~20 years (and was finally awesome from 2003 onward).

Mitsubishi is in the doldrums right now.. To survive, they cannot simply be another also-ran with boring product.

I wish this were real, but there's no way power output would go from 291 to 500. I look for about 350... MAYBE 375.
