Back in the days I was running 10w60 AGIP race oil in my turbo 3sgte mr2, even in the winter months out in Nebraska. Never had issues with it and it saw lots of track time out at MAM without ever a hiccup. Maybe the 4g63 is more particular in the oil it wants though, idk.

It may not be an issue if you let the motor warm up well before hard driving or driving in general. But keep in mind that most the wear occurs during cold start-ups so the thicker the oil the more prone you are to wear. I would recommend the AMO 10W40 or Racing dominator 15W50 since they run on the lower end of being thick. Summer no issues with 20W50

Making the switch from Dominator 15w50 to Zrod 20w50.

The 20w50 is better for a built 2.0L as oppose to the 10w30?

Is this because of the thicker viscosity being able to provide a better seal for not as tight clearance?
