Compressor kit came in today. Man it looks so tasty already. I plan to have this on the car by next week after the balancing and rebuild of the turbo. Also, I will be adding a megan 02 housing and DNP tubular manifold. All this plus the tune should definitely put me over 400 with no issues. Wish me luck and everything will be documented!

its upgrade time!
Attachment 283240 got my stocker off finally after a pretty hectic two weeks of building a 450whp wrx and finishing up a 600whp evo 8. got some good pics of my stocker and the 25g as well. along with the 25g i have some components ive been wanting to install. DNP ported tubular manifold Megan ported O2 housing Megan 3in ACD downpipe and testpipe Cosworth 272's GSC valvesprings Im hoping to have the turbo back very soon as my friend who works for a turbo shop is doing it this weekend. I have also become the very lucky and have acquired a TD05HRA! TME wheel time!!!! So, the TME turbo with this 25g on the front, balanced and rebuilt along with the items listed above should make for a very very fun widebody Evo 9. Ill update this as they come in |

Joe loves this thing already. He cant get over the size difference between the two compressor wheels. His only concern is the AR change since the wheel is sooo much bigger than the stocker. Granted Kinugawa opened up the inlet, they did not open up the outlet as much as maybe they should've. I would recommend having the housing ported on the outlet side to reduce the clogging effects of a huge inlet with a stock outlet. The blades of the compressor wheel allow for more air to be grabbed and brought in and the compressor inlet is a major part of this compressor kit's advantage over stock. That being said, in order to make the housing look as stock as possible, I imagine Kinugawa built onto a stock housing's casting for the anti-surge inlet. The anti-surge is pivotal in keeping this thing from blowing itself up or bending the blades up. The power potential is definitely there and the compressor wheel and housing are both very well built and machined. So as far as quality goes, off the bat, it looks great. Time will tell.

Got the turbo back tonight and my turbo guy just couldnt stop talking about how much bigger it was than the stock one. The wheel truly is a great deal bigger than stock. Although it felt like the new wheel was a little heavier than the stock wheel, it will surely grab much more air. I should make some significant improvements on the same boost. I will be back on the rollers within the next few days so stay tuned. Pics will come tonight

I really hate the size of the nut on that thing compared to the CEA wheels and HTA series, the nuts on those are super tiny to improve airflow and reduce weight

and this isnt a turbo of that caliber hence why i didnt mind doing the testing.....
anyway, here are the pics of it ready to be installed....almost Attachment 283156 Attachment 283157 Attachment 283158 Attachment 283159 Attachment 283160 |
Looks good. How much did it cost to get the wheels swapped and balanced? And I think I saw you in West Jordan today. Props on the car also.

stock compressor wheel is 48/68mm
20g is 52/68 25g is 60/78 which is much much larger than the stock wheel. personally i think the 25g compressor wheel is too large for the stock turbine wheel, but time will tell! good luck with the results, i'm looking forward to them. |
do you have any pictures of the turbine and turbine housing? what turbine housing are you using? 10.5 or 11.5? these turbos come with the td06slr turbine, much bigger than stock and equivalant to the fpgreen turbines. unless he just ordered their compressor kit which is just the compressor housing and 25g compressor wheel. a pair like that wouldnt do much better than a stock turbo in my opinion. the stcok turbione is far to small and would result in nothing but thrust plate overload and compressor suge, even with the clipping of a td05 turbine and the anti surge ports on the compressor housing. with the td06slr turbine kinugawa offers with the evo9 25g upgrade, is a pretty good match, not as good as a t67 (which is a td06 compressor wheel with a td07 turbine) but should be able to make 500 to the wheels. what type of fuel you running with this setup? e85, meth? im thinking of converting my evo9 tdo6 unit, into a 25g unit. been debating on ordering kamaks 25g billet wheel and taking it to the shop for the upgrade. keep us posted with your results
