Did you have a look at the ATP tight radius discharge ?

Thanks for the heads up. Since I fabricate I would never personally purchase something like that because it would cost me less than half that price to fabricate and I would get what I want instead of something generic. That bend is a standard 1D as opposed to my bend, which is 0.84D so definitely not as tight radius as the one I have. What they have done is what I was referencing as "fudging" the angle. Instead of cutting the pipe normal to the bend they cut it at an angle so the pipe inlet/outlet is actually oval instead of round. I am going to see if a machine shop local can recess the ID by another 0.25" or I will do what ATP did and just "fudge" the angle. Below is a pic of that ATP piece with the red lines showing how the pipe used to look and the green line is the "fudging" of the angle, which is done on both the inlet and outlet of their piece.

I'm familiar with fudging. . . And unfudging as a former fitter lmao

So the downpipe is now done, which is nice. I had a local machine shop recess the inside groove by another 0.25" and that gave me about 1/8" clearance to the AC compressor. I then slightly "fudged" the angle and the clearance is almost 0.25" to the AC compressor. I then welded the 3" to 3.5" transition to the downpipe.

I then welded the driver's side wastegate flange to the manifold.

The 1.5" bellows from Verocious Motorsports arrived yesterday so I am waiting on the fresh set of Tial 38mm outlet flanges to arrive. With the setup bolted in place I will lock the downpipe into position at the vband and remove the setup. I will then pull the cartridge from the turbine housing so I can tie in the wastegates to the downpipe.

Well done and nice 3" to 3.5" elbow. Waiting for the recirc tubes welded to the downpipe.

Love the fab work and like the way the EM is turning out! What are you using for a machine? I recently picked up a TIG so been getting into it. Haven't played around with SS yet but Im told is an entirely different beast over mild steel.

Keep it going. Oh and you work quick btw!

Since you asked I will show my awesome welding setup below.

With my welding table I can make manifolds and eat TV dinners.

So I finished the rear wastegate today and it went smoothly, but took a bit longer than expected.

Tomorrow I should be able to finish the front side wastegate and get it tied into the 3" to 3.5" transition. In the interim I notice I can no longer use the factory lower radiator hose so after some experimenting I ordered 2x 1.375" 180deg aluminum mandrel bends to run a slick lower radiator hose. Below should give you and idea for how I will route it.

Good stuff and gotta love the classic transformer machine! If space wasn't a premium in my garage I probably would have opted for a similar setup but inverter seemed to make more sense and it's not set at 60hz which when I ever get around to AL perhaps I'll see some value in that.

Also, lol sweet fab table! With all the fab work you do, you should really build a real table :)

Every time I start a project I say I'm going to build a nice table with wheels. Never happens so I do this.....

Out of pure curiosity, why not run the wastegate recirculation tubes into the down pipe at more of an angle instead of basically teeing them in at a 90?

Kit looks good though.

It's nice seeing more fabrication around here. Keep up the good work!

Thanks and made more progress today. Going to add a vband at the line in red so I can pull the downpipe without having to pull the radiator.

"Going to add a vband at the line in red so I can pull the downpipe without having to pull the radiator."

Why don't you weld a 3.5" vband at the end of your new beautiful elbow and continue the downpipe there (like a stock elbow+downpipe)? Maybe there is no room for the 3.5" vband?
