The Evo is starting to look like a Sunfire, isn't it? hehehe. I bet there are a lot of happy Sunfire owners out there now. I wonder how long it will be until we see some Sunfires with Evo 5 style bumpers now...

When they called you, was it just a "question and answer" thing or were you able to make any aditional coments? I am already starting to psyche myself up and get some good topics of discussion for this phone call....

The topics will probably go something like this:

Clutch
Cheap interior
6 speed tranny not available
Altezza style lights

My question to all of these...WTF?!

Other than the clutch problems I've read about, what else do you people think needs fixin' if Mitsu was a smart company that wanted to make a reliable Evo??

If you look at the brochure for the Lancer Evolution, you'll see that they don't mention a model year at all, and even point out that the Lancer Evolution does not follow the ordinary model year cycle that other cars do. So we might see an Evo 9 next year or it might not come until the year after. The only reason why the car has a model year at all is for registration purposes. However, those "Evo 9" pictures that were linked in this thread are such obvious photoshop jobs that I'd be very surprised if that's how the car actually ends up looking.

next year's evo to have 6spd, AYC and ACD?

Has anyone heard if this is true? That would suck for us that already have our EVO. My friend told me that he heard that it is coming, and that it won't cost much more than we paid for ours! :dunno:

imapunkclaimer Jul 16, 2003 11:07 PM

the evo 8 gsr in japan has that. 6 speed, ayc, acd, and other cool things that i cant remember right now, but i dont think its coming to the US as far as I know

Okay first off your friend must be on something. If they did bring it over, the price will be significantly higher with all those gadgets attached. Secondly theres no confirmed rumor about any such things about these allegations. I.E. 6 Speed Trans, AYC, ACD, etc..

My guess is we won't see it next year. But I got a feeling we'll see it within 2-3 years. Not right now.

We already have a couple of these rumor threads around.

Who cares about the 6 speed and AYC, ACD. I never had these options before so I don't miss them. When I drive my car I'm usually in 4th gear most of the time anyways. I rarely go into 5th so wtf am I going to do with a six gear?

As for the AYC/ACD who needs it? My car handles like a go cart just the way it is. The only reason I would be pissed about future Evos is if they give them more power but that depends on how they do it.

In Great Britian, when the Evo VIII came out with the 6-Speed tranny and Super AYC, they also dropped the price 2000 Pounds Sterling.

Yeah!! to $45000. Unfortunately. i wonde what it would cost here in the US. BUt is think it would run in the low 40s

Personally I prefer the 5 speed, much more useful in autocrossing where you live mostly in second gear. I sit back and listen to the 6 speed cars up and down shifting, while I am just powering around the course. Plus the lack of AYC/ACD makes for a much more tossable car, 4 wheel drifts and oversteer are very doable.

fury656 Jul 17, 2003 06:55 AM

Personally I like the transmission/gear setup the way it is now. This the only car that I've been in that you can simply coast to 130 mph barely touching the gas in 5th. IMO even though the car revs high in 5th on the highway I like the fact that the passing power is always there without constantly downshifting.

I would think if we had ACD and front LSD our cars would be more toss able. Just don't get AYC if your planning to drift a little.

From what I've heard, stuff like the AYC was removed from the US Evos to make room for required emissions equipment.

Realistically, 99.9% of us won't miss it...the car ROCKS as is!!! :headbang:

A front LSD and the ACD would kick ass. Thats the only improvement it needs. Well other then a better stock clutch.
