Injen and AEM are the only ones that have the CARB legal stickers on their intake piping and since you live in Cali, it would be a good idea to get either. Since I had an AEM on my car before, I can say that the fitment is tight and you would have to work pretty hard to get the DV to fit nicely. As for turbo noise, when the turbo spools, the piping makes that spool sound a lot louder. Loved it when it was on my car. :D
As for exhaust, you buy what you want. Everyone is different. I love the sound of a Magnaflow so I bought that. Will always stick with a Magnaflow now. :) |
Yeah, Injen was my first and only choice anyways. I just wanted to hear more about Perrin and ETS. And as for exhaust I'm sticking with Greddy Evo 2 but... I heard Greddy Ti-C gives more HP. Is that true?
|
You may gain more with Ti-C but it's not going to be a huge difference. Just get what sounds good.

Perrin intake, dyno proven to make the most horsepower.
|
i also have an AEM intake. cant really complain. its functional, decent sounding, and doesnt take up a whole lot of room

Decided to go with Injen! What do you guys think?
|
Injen is cool. Car inhales pretty good. I've had Injen under the hood for some time now. Perrin intakes are pretty serious as well. I think the injen is too much for stock PSI though. Throttle response is snappy. I can't wait to add PSI to my stock turbo and see what it can do; just waiting to get my flash cable and I can bolt on and get crazy.

Buy a carb sticker on eBay and slap it on....if you're so scared. |
if i could go back and have done it right first time, which is what I did second time. AEM Intake due to carb legal bs. Ets short route uicp and licp painted there flat black. Relocate your battery to trunk. As far as exhaust any 3" catback exhaust will do, more or less will be louder then each other. Youtube for your favorite sound. If its primarily gonna be a weekend fun car, id go with the dc sports cat delete downpipe, thats what im running on mine. Two 18" resonators welded after beginning of catback flange, for quiet cruising.

This is currently on my Evo. Still learning about my IX since I just got it couple months ago.

RRE Stealth awesome catback. Quiet, nice welds, and "stealthy" lol.
|
Any more pics!!?? I am highly considering the RRE Stealth. I have heard mixed reviews - some saying its not that quiet...what's your opinion. I just picked up my VIII 1/2/12 so I'm still learning what I can and trying to do it right the first time! I would like to see what it looks like coming out of the back bumper. If you are willing to make a vid that would be sick but I don't expect that. Good luck with the car, wish I had a IX! {thumbup}
