If you want to break 400 on an MR you are looking at 15 grand at least with labor.
If you wanna break 400 on a GSR you are looking at 10/12 grand at least with labor.

Check my sig for the current mods and the future plan to give you an idea.

reallly...? $20,000 can get you a built up 10 second evo..

$15k would be including an engine build. You don't need a built engine for 400whp.

Here's some generous amounts:

Turbo - $2500 installed
Test pipe/hi-flow cat - $250 installed
Cat-back - $1000 installed
Upper intercooler pipe - $200, install it yourself.
3-port - $150 installed
Fuel pump - $200 installed
Intake - $250 installed
Tune - $500

Total - $5050

You might want some other things in there too, like intercooler, injectors (for e85), downpipe, but they aren't necessary for 400whp with the right turbo. You can also spend a lot less than that, for example I got my catback for $350 and installed it myself in 30 minutes.

I hope you are getting catering with that as well. IC, 3 port, intake, ic piping anyone can do, unless you are useless then fork out the cash. Same goes for the fuel pump. Also a place called cherry turbos in ontario will mod your evo x turbo for $750 to net you 400whp. They are very reputable but not serial mainstrem, I had a gt35 rebuilt and moded there before and it rocked. So yeah go ahead and spend $15k

Wonder how all those name shops makes so much $$$? Well its on individuals as such and this is not trying to offend anyone. I really don't need a "brand name" sticker on my intake pipe.

Like I said, I was real generous with the amounts, and assumed the number was going to come from the lowest reading Mustang dyno in the world :)

Here in Socal, there are guys with test pipe back exhaust, intake and a tuned on e85 breaking 400whp. So the answer to the OP's question is yes you can achieve 400whp on a stock turbo on e85... but if you plan on only running 91 full bolt on's including dp/wastegate dump pipe, front mount you'd be looking at 360whp.

FastAttack Dec 4, 2012 06:37 AM

Again all of these conversations about hitting 400awhp.. its just a number to me..

the tq/hp curve is what wins you races.

I could have a car peaking 401whp but the avg whp is just 290 ..

or I could be having a car with a peak 380whp and avg hp of 330 .... get the point?

To the op, with stock turbo you can break 400whp all day long with full bolt ons , tune and something call nitrous ;)

Would I do it.. hell no.

Also plenty of stock turbo cars breaking 400awhp with E-85 not regular pump gas.

The better the tuner the better the tune and numbers!

$15k to get 400whp.... wow I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for you

that is actually not necessary true...
You can pump out high numbers, and still having an unreliable tune.
Good tuners are not known the highest numbers. They known by the longest running engines with a high numbers and in general the lowest track numbers.
Dyno numbers are half of the story.

I agree with you. Its definitly a start though.
