Never had a car that did this. It sounds like a very good way to find out a gauge isn't working.

I think you'd notice pretty fast if your speedo or isn't working. lol

As for sweeping gauges... it's interesting... but I could care less about it.

It looks pretty gimick-like but they do it for a reason. I could care-less if I see it, but when I had my 05' STi I enjoyed it.
