well i found an extremely clean, clean title, evo8 MR. its a 2005 with 74k miles. he wants 15,500. and has even offered to have the timing belt done for me if that seals the deal for me to buy it. what do you guys think?? to many miles?
i also found a evo9 SE with 24k miles. its salvaged (front end collision caused the airbags to blow)but i went and looked at it and it looks like it was repaired really well and its clean inside and out. he wants 16,000. which would you rather buy |
The VIII MR sounds like a pretty good deal, especially if he's going to do the timing belt.
That IX SE is a good price... but you need to be very careful when dealing with salvaged vehicles, since you never know what's going to go wrong. Also, not all insurance companies will offer full coverage on a vehicle with a salvage title. |
Yea I called my insurance they will cover salvaged. But I drove it and it seems good, the repairs look good, and my buddy followed me when I drove it to see if it drove crooked or anything weird
|
The S gearbox shifts better because, like most honda's, it doesn't have any torque to deal with. Try putting that gearbox in an evo and see how long it last. It won't be shifting so nice for long.

I own both an s2000 and and Evo 9 mr. I can't make a decision on which one to sell. I love both cars. I have owned only Hondas because of their known reliability. Never experienced mitsubishi's. help me choose one. I would rather have the second gen NSX. But working on that. I have a Toyota 4 Runner 1998 with 140k on it and no signs of it giving up. Also have a 2004 Rx330 with just 60k miles. I do not know what to do. I would live to go down to just two cars. Please help me out with some advice.

I just bought (literally, yesterday) and Evo 9 in place of my stolen S2000.
what I miss about the S2000: - driving experience. Crammed seat position played a big part on it, I just loved it. - shifting gear quickly. Simply put, S2000's have the best gearbox ever. - drifting anywhere - driving precision. Where you put the nose, the car goes even at WOT (sure, no torque but..). - looks: looks much better than EVO IMO - Mileage. 25MPG do not look so bad compared to an EVO... - Top down on nice weather What I like about the Evo IX - Not having to downshift to pass, although in the S it was a pleasure - Torquing the way out of traffic - taking turns at speed unseen before in my S - breaking, much improved - Recaros - Having 2 more doors - stupid but being a DD it helps living with it. - Learning a new driving style (AWD) - Wing. I like big wings and I cannot lie :D - Safety (and fun) when wet. S2000 was just too dangerous on highway when it was pouring |
^ There IS an mpg hit, but again, you're dealing with a larger, heavier car with AWD and a motor with a good amount more hp and almost double the torque. But it's not bad, I can hit 25 mpg on the highway pretty easily, and I think I average just under 22 mpg, which you can see on my Fuelly account (same username).

haha i can't believe my old thread got bumped 3 years later LOL.
anyway, i bought the 05 MR that i spoke of on the first comment on this page, had it for about 2 years, had it at 405WHP on e85, then i sold it and bought a stock 04 GSR and started all over again!! and no, i dont miss the s2000 at all!!!! |

I know I will if I sell the s2000. I have made my decision on keeping the s2000 and the Evo 9 mr. Love both so much. Evo is more practical. Both fun to drive on the twisters. I am a lucky man. Now gotta get rid of the 04 Lexus rx330 and 98 Toyota 4Runner. Or maybe I'll just keep the 4 runner. Thanks everyone for helping me with this decision. |

but i probably just don't miss mine because i know its only feasible for me to have 1. so when it comes down to one or the other, i have to say bye to one and not miss it you know? |
Tough decision between the two...I used to own a evo8 but now I have a evox (DD) and s2000 (track only)...both are amazing drivers cars but if I could only have one it would be the evo8...
