It doesn't look bad at all when looking at it from an aerial view - literally looks like a mean looking spaceship.

I just wish they hadn't added all that goofy, black honeycomb plastic that does nothing but turn grey over time. I'm not a fan of fake vents. But maybe I'd have a fix for all that (aerodynamics permitting).

Wait for the base CTR in 2018. http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...r-in-2018.html

Great video review, best yet I've seen out there. Gave me a much better feel of what the car really is.

All in, the FWD isn't my biggest deterring factor now. Approaching mid forties, it's just way too loud and garish. I'd still love to drive one, though. Man, I miss Honda shifters!

Nice, that's more of less! That's the one rather than a loaded one.

I'm skeptical because they will sell all they can of a loaded one.

The explanation of how Honda eliminated torque steer was interesting, but I wonder what effect adding a wider tire will have.

Fully loaded for me, please!

moparfan, the CTR apparently centered the front wheels over the steering axis, which is separate from the stroke axis (video at 7:59). If you add a wider wheel, then this is no longer the case. So what happens re: torque steer?

P.S. It is well established that Revoknuckles did not eliminate torque steer in the MkII Focus RS.

What I get from either the Honda or Ford is that you have to keep the offset. You can of course change it, but then it isn't centered anymore. People might be sensitive to that change or not. While I am happy to hear no torque steer, I'll wait until it gets into the publics hands. It may be that a combination of eps and torque management, in concert with the physical solution, "solves" the problem.

So nobody here is throwing five year old tantrums about stamped steel suspension arms on the CTR like they did with the FoRS?

nemsin Jun 17, 2017 07:43 PM

"At the front, the Type R gets aluminum lower arms and steering knuckles, and a helical limited-slip differential." http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-show...oduction-spec/

Hells no. My ITR did great with them. No complaints here.
Other members, however.....

Talking about the rear arms, the same ones that are steel on the Evo 10 that everybody cried about as well.

I'm amazed anybody is even talking about this car on here since it's "totally not motorsports bro" FWD since everybody even threw tantrums about the FoRS being FWD-biased.

No crying about the rear calipers not being brembos?

Maybe because it has flares and a big red R?

nemsin Jun 17, 2017 08:21 PM

It is clear that weight savings was a design consideration for the CTR. Not so much for the Focus RS.
