Lol maybe as quick if the x owner had no idea hpw to drive it haha

Stock for stock there are a decent number of cars just as quick in a straight line as an Evo. Hell, my S2k was quicker on the highway than Evo VIII's. Once modded though, it's a whole new ballgame.

Lancerguy03,

If you're really wanting to know if the FR-S is worth it, talk to Acree. He went from a fully built Evo IX to a BRZ (basically the same thing as the FR-S). He could really give you some insight.

Only if you plan to turbo the frs.

Get the front bumper repainted and call it good.

Stock KYB shocks are easy to come by and really cheap. You can get some dynomat for sound suppression. Then pick up a cheap head unit and some stock speakers. You can run all the wires while installing the dynomat.

Putting power windows and locks to the car is no easy feat. Need the wiring harnesses, all the motors, and new door panels. Just live (suffer) with the manual stuff.

As an alternative to Dynamat, check out GTMat, they're based down in Austin and their product works very well. I have 20 sq/ft of their 50mil mat in my car.

I believe they are also EvoM vendors and do give discounts.

Here's my 2 cents. Park the Evo and don't change a thing. Go buy a new Mitsu Mirage for daily driving.

With low finance rates, it'll cost you about $225 a month. And because it gets 40 MPG your daily commute will only cost you about 95 cents a day. That's less than $20 a month in fuel costs. 100K mile warranty too. 4 doors with decent headroom.

In summary - what you might spend in maintenance and fuel on the Evo each month can buy you another car. Double win - you get a quiet smooth ride and the you get to keep the evo raw which is what makes the RS what it is.

Not only is it what I would do -- it's what I did do. we have 3 mitsus now. Evo, Endeavor, and Mirage. Great cars IMHO.

I've been toying with the idea of a Mirage or iMiev as a commuter...

Isn't that what you bought the 9 MR for?

Kracka, looks like it is time to change your avatar. Haha. More and more people are confusing you with Tom. I say bring back Bill Mays

I personally would not go the S2k route as some have mentioned for daily driving. I personally have one for tracking. The car is tiny and not really comfortable as a daily driver in my opinion. Also since owning the Evo 8 I just got having the turbo/torque available all all rpms is so much more enjoyable as a daily. Issue with S2k is you only get decent power at above 5.5k rpms.

I personally would trade in your Evo for a Evo X if you want a more comfortable daily. If you go the FRS route (bigger car than s2k so more comfortable) I would turbo it, the low power will piss you off especially if you are use to driving an Evo for 10 years.

I know a friend personally who went from Evo 9 to turbo s2k and now hes going back to an Evo.

keep the evo and get an frs as a daily. you will regret selling or trading in the ebo:/

 No kidding!

i built mine to be a more comfortable street car. No power mods. Just drivability stuff that takes the edge off for street driving. SS clutch line, MR bilstiens, rear sway, rear lsd upgrade, louder stereo. It's still like driving an overgrown gokart but it's liveable.

EvoG8r Feb 3, 2014 01:37 PM

You will regret selling the Evo. The FRS is fun, but you can do mods to make the car much easier to live with. Get an HFC, Greddy Evo2 exhaust and MR bilsteins for starters. Or buy my 2006 BMW M5, then you get Dr Jeckel and Mr Hyde-mobile.
