A few new things to keep stuff interesting...

Since I'm basically done with power in order to keep the car daily-driven reliable, I've decided to start adding a few more weight-loss goodies in addition to the wheels and brake rotors I did earlier this year.

For starters, time to ditch the heavy Whiteline rear swaybar (27mm solid design, 17.6 lbs) which has served me well for the past 67k miles in favor of something lighter; I opted for the Eibach (25mm hollow deisgn, 8.6 lbs) which is about half the weight of the Whiteline, and actually lighter than the stock bar (8.8 lbs) while being stiffer! This bar is not as stiff as the Whiteline, but it was designed to pair nicely with the Eibach Prokit springs (which I also have). So far, initial driving impressions are favorable, the car feels very stable and controlled.

For now I have it on the medium setting, but once I install the Eibach front swaybar (29mm hollow design, 11.3 lbs) that is sitting in my garage, which is also lighter yet stiffer than the stock bar (11.9 lbs), I'll switch the rear to the stiff setting then play with the front settings to see which suits my needs best.

Next up, was a little preventative maintenance! Since my factory battery was 3 1/2 years old and starting a crank a little weaker than it used to I decided to replace it before it died, and in doing so I was able to shave ~25 pounds out of the trunk :)

I decided to try out the STM mini-battery kit for the Evo X which uses a Odyssey PC680 battery, which is similar but slightly stronger, than the Genesis EP16 mini-battery I used in my Evo IX.

good stuff

Nice up date. How is the eibach setup going for you? Have you installed the front sway bar yet? Thoughts?

I've been working a lot of overtime this year and hadnt had a chance to install $9K of parts sitting in my garage. Hopefully things slow down and I can get stuff put on. Once that happens, Ill be heading to Cobb Planto for tuning. Maybe we could meet up. I'd like to check out the car in person.

Definitely, just let me know and I'll head up there and we can grab lunch or something!

I am really liking the rear Eibach bar; makes it obvious that the Whiteline was too stiff for my needs. I can use more power in the corners and the ASC is much less intrusive (i think the Whiteline bar was over-powering the AYC). I haven't installed the front yet, but I intend to this spring when I'm ready for new tires and a fresh alignment.

Any new updates with the suspension?

I never installed the new Eibach front bar, but swapping in the rear to replace the Whiteline was great! Much better match for the springs; all around now a better handling car.

On that note though, the car is currently pending sale and will be picked up by the new owner next Saturday.

If you dont mind me asking, why did you decide on selling the evo?

I've been driving it for nearly 4 years & 70k miles, it's just time for something new :) I think my final miles on it were 69,545 or so.

My final picture:

Long story short, Shawn & Mike drove down from MN in his '14 X GSR base, I sold my '10 X GSR SSS to Don Herring Mitsu, and Shawn traded in his for mine. You should have seen the salesman's face when he saw what all the road salt did to his carpet after only 7k miles and one partial winter! Probably not quite as clean as they were expecting for a few months old '14 ;)

Another project thread of mine comes to a close.

THE END.

Krack - Can you post a breakdown of your final parts on the first page. Although, I enjoyed reading every sentence of your build, I would like to model my X (which also serves as my DD) to your cars modding path.

Thanks!
