Wanted: Cheap laptop
I'm in the market for another cheap laptop, folks. I need something to tune my car, and my current one is about to take a ****. Here are the requirements:
If you have anything meeting or near these requirements I'm definitely willing to take a look. I really do NOT have a lot of money to spend here (recently laid off) so anyone who could help me out in a pinch I'd be most grateful. I'm hoping I can give someone a couple hundred beans for a laptop they no longer need/use.
Cases aren't necessary (I think I have 2-3 from old laptops), and accessories aren't necessary either, but I may be interested if they're not expensive and I can scratch together a little extra dough.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys have got.
- Must be cheap (just a ballpark I'm talking a couple hundred here)
- Must be in the ballpark of 366mhz or up
- Must have working serial port
- Must have at least 30min battery life (I know how laptop batteries degrade).
- Must have CD and floppy disk drives.

I have a few IBM 240x's They don't have built-in CDROM or floppy drives.. but one is a celeron 450 and PIII-500's with 192mb of ram.. I know your not interested, but these are one of the smallest lightest laptops on the market. I picked up a PC Card/USB DVDRom drive and a USB floppy for the one I use..
Look on ebay though, you can get a variant of the 240 for $300 to $500

I got a old ibm think pad not sure if its 366mhz but i ran my aem ems with it. The back light screen died so you can hardly see it with out a light on it. Battery is very weak but i used the charger in the car.
It has one usb and a serial connection, it also has a cd rom drive.
my AEM software is still on the unit.
P.S if you want to get a new screen for it you can on ebay for around $20.
ac/dc converts are like $25, This what i used in my car now.
$70 plus shipping and its yours
