Built 2.0 Ported 8 Turbo
Well, after deployment my engine and I decided it was time for a rebuild. I had low compression on #2 and uneven bearing wear on one of my mains. Luckily I was about to have a little over two weeks of leave and some good friends willing to help me get the project done as the Evo is my daily.

First off I had to start compiling a list and figuring out how I could manage my time to achieve all of my goals, as well as replace as much as I could while I had the car apart.
Here is the new list:
CP 9.5:1 pistons W/ Upgraded wrist pins, Manley Turbo Tuff Rods, GSC S2’s, GSC Beehive valve springs with Ti retainers, Megan O2 housing, GSC Balance Shaft Eliminator, Competition Clutch Stage 3 Sprung, Kiggly HLA, Cosworth Crank Scraper, Hallman MBC, ARP Main Studs, OEM Oil Pump, GSC Standard Size Valves, Custom Catch Can, STM Clutch Line, Ported Head, Ported Exhaust Manifold, and a ported 9.8 turbine housing Evolution 8 turbo.

Parts on the car previously:
Amsoil Cone Filter, Buschur Front Motor Mount Insert, Walbro 255, Buschur Street FMIC, Buschur Turbo Back Exhaust, and Mandrel bent 2.5” LICP.
So Porting isn’t exactly new to me, as I used to do some at my previous employer. I took a really simple approach to everything I was porting. Mainly I did a lot of gasket matching and smoothing. For the head, I’m not out to break any records, I just wanted to improve the factory defects. I spent most of my efforts blending the seats to the bowls and removing castings. I’ve decided I’m not really that into porting cast iron, it’s a PITA compared to aluminum.

After Hot Tank.

Assembled with the new GSC goodies.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to be there for the engine assembly. None the less I got some pics.

Here are the results after the tune on the stock turbo. The car was tuned by my buddy Chris (EvoX2NR) 27-28psi peak tapering to 19-20 by redline.

Well, it’s done(for now…) built motor, bolt-ons, and a tiny ported 8 turbo. Special thanks to Freddie, Mike, and Chris.
