I feel like an evo boot trying to drive around in this thing! I'll get used to it in time, but everything is going well so far. Break in time!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...
lol we put a stage 4 6-puck in my buddies evo and i went on leave, he called me like "dude i cant push the pedal down somethings wrong" but once you get it broken in and used to it you'll love it.

congrats on getting it running and together though! that's the best feeling in doing things on your own.

Ok so. Got some bad news. And something mysterious as well. So the drive to Tampa was going good. 1st 11 hours went great. The play hour the evo stopped accelerating. Then died when i pulled over and wouldn't start. It turns over as if the cas is UN plugged. Everything checks good, it was getting fuel and spark. Figured out the timing on my intake cam slipped about 4teeth. Did a compression test After re timing and it went something like 115-125-120-115. I didn't bother to put some oil in it because it was kind of obvious after the timing slipped it was bent valves. So i pulled the head the next day. Took it to a machine shop. And they found that NONE of the valves were bent... Has any one seen timing slip like that and not bend any valves? I did a hot compression test about a week earlier and everything was 175 across the board. So i don't think it was the rings. I'm a little confused. We do have interference motors correct? Even so, s2 cams have a good lift so in theory they should have slapped... Has anyone seen this before?

your tensioner probably went which would've caused the slipped belt and your valves were probably open ever so slightly to lose compression but not hit the pistons. yes it's an interference engine however if you have stock pistons the reliefs are pretty big so you probably got lucky.

I could be wrong cus 4 teeth is a lot but that's my .02! be thankful you didn't mess anything up lol

lol i know right! what a relief! no pun intended lol

ok so update: life has been pretty busy but in all the commotion ive managed to get my head back on, and all the timing stuff off. now im just waiting to buy my timing stuff ... "im not in a hurry to get the evo running" - my wife ... but i figured while it was down i might as well shave/ paint my valve cover and paint my headlights black. so one of my headlights is in the oven now. when i grinded off the lines on top of the valve cover, i gashed it pretty deep in a couple places. it took forever to sand down until everything was perfectly flat on both sides but i got it! im also debating on doing the "nose chop" mod aswell but that will most likely have to be another time. im pretty stoked to see how it all looks after. more to come! and PICS!

towing from Tampa FL to NC with my "problem child" jeep lol-

i sanded one of my headlights with 91% rubbing alcohol it took the chrome paint off pretty good but since there are alot of little grooves in the headlights, it took forever! until i read up on a how to forum about this easy off spray, let it sit for 5 min, and sprayed off with a hose and it got every single piece of chrome off. life saver for sure-

finally got everything flat, you cant even tell that i gouged it pretty bad (i suck with table grinders) but with an electric sander and about 45min per side with 150 grit, its smooth as butter-

more pics to come!

heres some more pics-

installed a new timing and balance belt, tensioned perfectly to spec, i would still like to clean up the engine bay alot more, deleting the sprayer and putting a custom catch can set up there. and im debating on putting a clear coat on the valve cover, grease tends to stcik to the grill paint that i used pretty good, i like the flat black look but having to try and rub off the grease every time is a pain, im starting not to care lol.

i took all the extra rtv off that is spilling over the edge that you can see in this pic. this one is just from initial start up after i got her together

just my 4th of july meal, stuffed burger with pepperoni, sausage, 3 difft cheeses, bacon, and jalapenos, and some other stuff lol once again, happy late 4th of july everyone!!! salute to the guys still out there defending our freedom this one is for you-

update-

i made the SD switch, as you can see i have my 4in intake with k&n filter, i already had my omni 4 bar, and im going to go with using the fuel temp sensor method instead of welding in an iat sensor in my uicp. all i need to get her running is my tune from tom. hes a busy guy! also went ahead and deleted my egr and my IC sprayer, took up too much room and weight.

so as she sits now!

i also sold my defi boost gauge and bought an aem boost gauge to finally match my other aem gauges (A/F, oil press on the steering column)-

my headlights a while after i finished painting them, i think they look great! and a hell of alot cheaper than buying jdm ones lol-

i also went ahead and routed my tactrix cable and w/b serial cable through the glove box so all i have to do to log is open my glove box and plug in, no more ugly wires hanging across everything. -

more to come!!!
