Finally got an air compressor for the garage so I could boost leak test the car. Since I got it running, its had a HORRIBLE leak and would barely see 6lbs of boost at the intake manifold.
The turbo outlet/j pipe was crunched and the flange was not flat at all. The engine came out of a car that was wrecked which explains it. 24bs feels much better!

I also polished up the headlights with a store bought kit.

Tuning and some dyno graphs coming soon.

Here is where the car sits now with pretty conservative timing at 22lbs of boost. The injectors are maxed out so that is on the next list of things to do.

Currently it's on
Stock VIII turbo with 9.8 hotside and megan o2 - leave as is for now.
Stock injectors - upgrade to 2150's
Stock cams - upgrade to GSC S3's with kiggly beehives
Stock headstuds - upgrade to ARP
Stock LICP - Fab 2.5"
Shooting for over 400 once I do those things. Hopefully by fall I'll have the opportunity to drop in a second fuel pump and install a 62mm on it (Borg S363).

Out of curiosity, why are you going with such a large injector? Nice numbers, by the way. I bet she's a blast to drive! Congrats, dude!

So I never have to upgrade them again. I'll need larger ones down the road when the car is making closer to 700. Originally Posted by kaj

I gotcha. 700whp would need 1820cc. Whatever the smallest you get that works and idles great. Makes sense. :bigthumb: Again, congrats on the numbers! These cars so much fun to drive when they have that kinda response.Originally Posted by badev0

It really is a blast! I am planning on attending my first open track day at waterford hills road race track in the next month or two. It should be fun to get some seat time and really learn the car. Depending how that goes, I may keep the car settle and go a different direction with future plans. My only motorsport experience is drag racing.Originally Posted by kaj

Sweet! I started out drag racing. I had my Mustang GT but was getting whooped by my friends with Hondas. So, I sold the Mustang, bought an Integra GSR and had fun trying to run 11.99 on drag radials (it wasn't so common, back in 2006 Originally Posted by badev0

), with a FWD car. I crashed it... bought an Integra Type-R then thought "well... I should use this car as intended". I did my first HPDE and was instantly hooked. I've been back to the drag strip once... but do HPDE and Time Attack (Global) any chance I get. An Evo was a natural progression, I suppose. If you end up getting hooked, you definitely will not want that 700whp, though :P
Either way, I love these cars. I had one.. sold it... hated myself.. bought another. Keeping it for life, I think haha.
nice job bringing the car back. The WW looks super clean. Looking at that STM oil cooler is making want to get one. My OEM looks like poop but still workin fine. What is the mileage on the WW?

FWIW I've used OEM IX, STM, and MAP's Setrab kit: https://www.maperformance.com/collec...on-8-9-evo-ockOriginally Posted by Astro_Train

The Setrab unit works GREAT, so I still have it. OEM IX works next best (I can't speak for the smaller VIII unit), and the STM kit seemed to not work as well as stock. Keeping in mind this is during AutoX and road course work. I'm sure they are all fine for daily driving and/or spirited driving. After holding the Setrab and B&M coolers side by side, there is just no comparison. The OEM cooler is also much more sturdy and robust than the B&M.
Just some additional info in case you were thinking the STM kit is an upgrade from OEM.

I used to own a few EVO 8's in the past and I definitely had to get back in one!Originally Posted by kaj

I went with the STM kit since I was on a budget and did not want to run without an oil cooler for daily driving. I did not have an OEM kit handy so this was the next best thing. I may upgrade to a bigger cooler in the future.Originally Posted by kaj

Had ceramic window tint installed on the car (20% all around, 35% on windshield). The ceramic blocks way more heat and all UV rays compared to regular cheap tint. Much cooler in the car now! It's nice having it on the windshield too, you can see better at night as it kills almost all light glare from oncoming traffic.

I got sick of the heat and bought all the parts I needed to get AC working. It blows nice and cold now.
I also removed the stock injectors and installed RC1000s. The car is running great with them and are slowly being scaled as I get free time. Shooting for -3/+3 trims. The stock injectors were way past their limit with E85.
