^ Thanks all! I am very excited to see progress being made. I will probably get back to the shop midweek for more updates.

Thanks all for encouragement and interest.

Paint is on! Clear is next. Headlights and Taillights also ready for clear. Wing CF is being sanded and will be re-cleared later this week. I expect the car back late next week.

For interior, thinking of a.) clean and dye seats, b.) reupholster with fabric, c.) reupholster with leather, d.) leave them alone for now.

More later . . .

What about the rust repair? Was old metal cut out and new metal added?

Rust was actually not that bad once paint was removed *I had done that prior to bringing the car in). Shop suggested clean up, seal (both sides) and a small amount of body filler. They also warrantee their work.

I did not get close up pictures of the local repairs (rust and small dents), but I will when I get the car back next week, and post more.

Have you checked underneath for rust? It's fixable if there is, but it's better to catch it now instead of being surprised down the road with something more serious. I would have saved this one based on history alone, it's been with you too long to dump.

How long is the warranty? I'm guessing rust bubbles would pop back up in about 5years if all the old rust was not cut out.

You bought the most rusted Evo I've seen in a decade lol I couldn't believe what I saw behind the rear bumper but then again there's a thread on here of someone taking off their rear bumper on a brand new EVO and there was rust at the reinforcement.

Yea, mine is really rusty.

I wasn't trying to throw shade on this one. I was just really curious with the rust. This car looks pretty damn good overall. If he wants to keep it for another 20 years, might just want to make sure the warranty backs it.

Yes. I made the contract contingent on a complete review of under-carriage. They have also pulled rockers and inner fender wells on the rear wheels. I also get under the car periodically to do oil changes and looked around wheel wells during recent tire rotation. With all the mechanical stuff done over the last four years, and now the exterior restore, I've probably had 4 or 5 different mechanics underneath the car looking as well.

I bought this Evo rust free in 2003 with 9 miles on the odometer. It is a one owner bone-stock / daily driven Evo, and it's (still) mine.
