Project Daily "Daisy"

Decided to start a thread to chronicle all the work i am looking to do on my new beautiful Lancer Evolution IX with the SSL package (not my first choice but i do like the sunroof)

So this is how she came :

Engine :

Haltech MBC
ETS piping
ETS intercooler
Megan O2 Housing with Swift ceramic coating
Buschur Racing TBE 3 inch stainless exhaust
Walbro Fuel Pump
1000 CC injectors
Kelford Cams

Chasis:

Whiteline front sway bar
Hotchkis adjustable rear bar with perrin spherical links
Energy suspension bushings
Fortune Auto 510 coilovers with Swift 12k/10K springs
HD lower engine mount
Sheppard rear differential
2 Piece Gyro-Disc rotors upfront
Racingbrake.com brakes rear
Stoptech brakes up front

Interior:

MR guage kit which i removed and have for sale if anyone is interested

First thing i attempted was the EGR delete, what i dont get is what do i do with all the excess wire left from the solenoids deleted :

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...2602c8455e.jpg

Full oil change at AG auto, nice guys over there, next time I will do it myself, still waiting to go and do my tune with them, won't install my EBCS until then.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...7b69b31f63.jpg

Installed some Shifter Bushings :

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...a6bb177915.jpg

Went to attempt the battery relocation but I really want to know what some of these wires are attached to the battery :

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...b7ebcfcd58.jpg
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...18b52b680c.jpg

Once i figure all that wiring out, i will get on it then move on to finishing up my AFR and oil pressure guage.

Subbed!

What I did was zip tie the extra connectors out of view when I delete the EGR system.

Ill do that, just thought there was a way to completely get rid.

huzzle101 Jun 15, 2018 07:18 AM

So as stated i have deleted the EGR but the blasted P0455 keeps popping up once in awhile. I read on a couple posts here that the Gas tank cover could be the problem.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...6a27873f63.jpg
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...3b88c53106.jpg

Should i be worried he had an aftermarket Gas cover ?
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...e9f91d712b.jpg

This feels so much better when closing, goes on deeper and smoother.

So as seen i order an OEM Gas tank and as soon as i do the damn P0455 pops up again, twisting out my hair trying to figure out what to do. I believe i did all the periphery bits properly.

In the ECU:
-XXX- See Mr Fred Quote Below, might be good anyway- Change Periphery 0 (FAA) bit 11 to 1 (to disable EGR Timing advance)
-XXX- Not necessary if disabled correctly - Change Periphery 2 (FCA) bit 09 to 0 (to disable P0401 EGR Test)
-XXX- Unrelated, but a good change for anyone with problems https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/im...ies/tongue.gif- Change periphery 4 (FEA) bit 14 to 1 (to disable MAP vs Baro test on startup - not necessary but doesn't hurt)

Only next i can see is to go ahead and completely remove the Evap canister to make it complete, my 3000 mile oil change is coming up, think i'm just going to do it all then, plus the Battery relocation.

huzzle101 Jun 15, 2018 08:18 PM

Periphery 0/FAA:
-EGR(ign advance) Bit 11 disable(some people leave it on, up to you)

Periphery 2/FCA:
- EVAP> Bit 13,14,15 Disable
- EGR > Bit 9 Disable

Periphery 4/FEA:
- FPR> Bit 7 Disable(When you also disable FCA/P2 Bit 15 that will also take care of the FPR)

So i saw the above after doing some searches, the only ones i don't have disabled are
Periphery 2/FCA:
- EVAP> Bit 13,14

Periphery 4/FEA:
- FPR> Bit 7
would this help with the P0455 code i am getting, since i got the new gas cover it threw it and i cleared it, just watching it now to see of it throws it again.

huzzle101 Jun 20, 2018 11:55 AM

Bump if anyone can chime in if they did all of the above or just some.

LetsGetThisDone Jun 20, 2018 12:09 PM

Are you using a tephra rom or trying to sift through a stock rom? The tephra ROM's already have all this stuff enabled IIRC.

Stock rom, haven't taken on tephra yet, plan to in the future.

huzzle101 Jun 29, 2018 09:33 PM

Did an oil change recently and then finally got to hook up my oil pressure sensor using this beauty today
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...5c733d3fa0.png

Havent powered it on yet as i am also doing my battery relocation at the same time but of course in Florida rain started to fall, so my Daisy is up on Jack Stands. I will post pics of that thing above installed once i take some pics and of my Battery Relocation.

Want to hook up my AFR also but the sensor attached now is fully rusted on there, so i have been debating getting a new muffler, also because I am not a big fan of the note of the Buschur currently attached. So i am in the market for a new muffle with a nice tone, not too loud though.

Just posting this here figuring out what to go where and if anyone can chime in.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...c8dcb40390.jpg

Also do i need to run another fuse before the battery if i already have this.

cficare68 Jun 30, 2018 01:59 AM

No if you are running a distribution block that is has the fused you are good to go. I would recommend though running the ground from the back of the car and grounding it on the transmission bell housing when it bolts to the block on top. If you don't have a strong enough ground then it will cause additional issues.

So run the ground from the back all the way to the front ?

Correct. The factor ground wire ground in that location so you now it is an adequate ground for the car.

Update :

Did the battery relocation and prayers answered the car started up, im bad at this the pictures will go up once i Clean up the tank and get a battery box/or secure the battery better.

Also did an oil change and tried to add this to my setup but all i saw was oil leakage so immediately took it off :

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...6b3a912734.png

Guess i will have to find another way to get my oil pressure readings.

My latest issue has popped up since i did the oil change, when im driving i hear a metal rubbing against metal sound and then when i press the brakes at certain speeds the pedal pulsates and the steering shakes. A couple search results come up telling me the pulsation is me needing to change pads, what i can't find is why the metal rubbing against metal sound, any help will be greatly appreciated.

LetsGetThisDone Jul 6, 2018 08:58 AM

Check your wheels bearings, and brake pads.

heel2toe Jul 6, 2018 09:55 AM

FYI there are 2 ports on your oil filter housing that you can use to get oil pressure readings.

They have threadlocker on them. If you use a torch and heat the area up it'll come out with minimal effort.

Those guys over at AG AUTO are great bunch of guys and the owner antony is a stand up guy. had some issues with my car that a couple shops around here kept telling me i needed to rebuild my engine because i went with to high of a compression for E85. And i called antony and he knew the issue over the phone, Took the car to him and he and crisspeed got the car fixed in one day and Made 490HP. If you need help let me know always down to help a Mitsubishi owner...

Thanks, ill definitely hit you up for some help, i know i will need it one day.

Here are some updated pictures. Finally did my COP system, car does feel a little better and i should have taken pics of my old spark plugs they looked like they were falling apart.

Only driven on it a few times on it but recently i have been noticing my gas moving a bit quicker than when i first got the car a few months ago. Just did a fill up and will track mileage with light pedal driving.

huzzle101 Aug 10, 2018 01:16 AM

Ok here's a small picture update.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...c1d9b7c206.jpg

Old Exhaust, anyone want a Buschur Magnaflow, i'm keeping it for a week then if nobody pays for shipping i am just throwing it out.

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...366dc3301e.jpg

New Exhaust : HKS TI Sounds great.

Hey this maybe a stupid question, i am running a MBC and i am looking to install my Omni 4 Bar map sensor. My question is how would setting up ECU based boost control effect the MBC, would it be suggested i setup my EBC which i have but not installed yet. Just haven't read up on setting my EBC yet can i install the Omni 4 bar without worrying my car wo't run the same.

Any answers greatly appreciated, also I will be going Speed Density in the near future.

The problem is, the ECU cannot affect a MBC. You want to have the EBCS hooked up in place of the manual boost controller. If tuning with the manual boost controller, you have to set your boost first, then tune your fuel and timing map to that boost. It makes it difficult when switching maps.

With speed density, you will use the 4 bar MAP sensor and EBCS. No need to install an IAT sensor as temperature is taken from fuel temp. Duty cycle of the EBCS is then adjust adjusted depending on how much boost you desire from the tune.

Thanks i will look to get my omni and EBCS setup at the same time then once figure out how to go Tephra.

Been a bit slow on the build front, just enjoying the car and planning carefully what i want to have done.

Did install this beautiful short shifter and so far its my favourite mod, my shifts are quick and crisp.

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...babb10e99b.jpg
Only thing on final install you have to adjust/cut a bit of the center console for it to fit properly.

Got it from Individual Racing Parts, package came from Lithuania so i think that is where they are based out of, currently say they are working on one for the Evo 10.

https://www.irp.lt/individual-racing...speed-gearbox/ its a bit pricey but it is quality stuff, i got it on sale for Black Friday.

More mods coming up about to go green, FP green.

aggieEVO Dec 13, 2018 07:33 PM

That's one heck of a shifter!

huzzle101 Dec 14, 2018 04:27 PM

I am loving it !!

huzzle101 Jan 15, 2019 04:47 PM

Latest update, finally finished buttoning up all bolts, vacuum lines etc for my FP green install, ill post some pics someday this week. Man it is tight in there, will be tuned tomorrow, crosses fingers all goes well.

damstr Jan 31, 2019 11:16 AM

Are there any videos of that shifter in action? Looks like a serious piece of hardware.

huzzle101 Nov 22, 2021 08:15 AM
