Theres a few work arounds for the CEL. I believe O2 spacers are the most common, if you search around there are better answers than I can provde.

 

Yes it can trigger a cel.. You can do a cheap weld on ext for the 02 sensor.. Or ATP makes a fancy CEL delete.. I have one for another car(Mazda) but my cel never went off on my Mazda... I'll check and see if it fits the mitsu plugs...
