The 8 and 9 cat is different. The 9 cat had the O2 sensor in the cat. I believe the Evo 8 had the sensor in the mid pipe after the cat. So if you have an Evo 9 exhaust and use and Evo 8 cat, you won't have anywhere to hook up the O2 sensor. On the other hand, if you have an Evo 9 cat with an Evo 8 mid pipe, you'll have two places...and one would need to be plugged.

Correct you are sir, In my situation it doesn't matter tho. I have a mid pipe with an O2 bung, which i use for my wide band when i have my test pipe installed as it also has an O2 bung for the sensor.

So, since i would be only using the cat for inspection purposes- one day a year, i would unplug my wide band ( if i bought an 8 cat), and just put the O2 sensor in its place for that one day.
