when I bought the car, it had the 215/45/17s on there which is great for a performance summer tire, but here in ohio i wanted to get some snow tires so i didn't wreck over winter. so i got the winter tires and while i was taking off the rear tires, I notices the steel braid so it is about time to get new ones. The front didn't seem to rub much at all, only when backing out and turning the wheels, but the rear would rub when there was heavy weight in the back (aka passengers) or on large bumps. So that's why i want to get the 40s, so that i really don't have to worry about the rubbing anymore
