yea it would be nice but it is the way it is for simplicity and use of stock hoses and aftermarket samco hoses. it would be nice if they worked with samco and had them make a special hose that allows more room for the manifold.

If it were to the drivers side about 6 inches, it would be a straight shot to the thermostat housing, and all you'd need is a $10 piece of straight silicone hose. I don't think it would be any more simple than that.
