SOLD...please kill this thread.
Hey everyone,
I have a used XEDE for sale that I just took out of my 05 EVO 8. Included with the XEDE is the XEDE harness all wired up with a knock box for the SMART Feature. If you have an LC-1 already, it's just plug and play.
I have the SMART system as well still installed in my car but I'd be willing to do a package deal if the price was right.
First person to give me $250 gets it (without SMART)!
Best,
DJ

Oh, and I have the EVO 8 harness as well. It's totally plug and play. All you need to do is plug it in to your factory ECU and you can hook up any laptop to it and begin playing around.

What tuner only charges $200 for a tune? Let me know where I can sign up. Unless you're talking about a mail in flash, which has such a large margin of safety built into it that your EVO runs pig rich and yields slim to no WHP gains.
The XEDE has downloadable maps that you can upload and change every step of the way as you mod your EVO. These maps are easy to get, come in a variety of oct's and are by EVO year. There is a good margin of safety built into these maps much like a mail in flash but the nice part about the XEDE is that you don't have to pull out your ECU every time you add a part to your car, mail it in and be without your car for a week or longer if the tuner loses your ECU...with the XEDE, all you have to do is simply upload a new map. And again, you have the ability to even run race gas maps on the fly. If you are knowledgeable about tuning, you can road tune very easily as well.
With an ECU Flash, you have to stop the car, burn the map, and start over again. Turning your car on and off 500X gets old after a while; even on a dyno. The XEDE allows you to make tweaks on the fly without turning your car off. Last time I checked you cannot do this with a mail in flash. Additionally, 99% don't know how to tune our EVO's...I wouldn't dare start messing with my 30k+ investment.
The SMART feature for the XEDE makes real time fuel adjustments and monitors knock...which is a nice safety feature when the air outside changes. Last time I checked an ECU flash doesn't do this.
So how dumb are people that are using these units? Send your ECU in once for your TBE, again for an intake, then again for a IC Kit and you've spent $600 plus shipping for one map each time around, plus the time without your car running and pulling out the ECU. For what we all paid for our XEDE's new, we can change our maps for free every time we add a part, we don't have to pull our ECU's every time and we can run race maps, winter maps, summer maps, or whatever any time we want for FREE. You're right! They are worthless paperweights
The biggest flaw in your argument is that most of us (99%) don't know how to tune our cars, so what good is a tactrix cable and a laptop if I have no idea what the hell you're doing?
Like I told the other guy on here, if you are so knowledgeable about tuning and XEDE's, I challenge you to make a factual post on here or SoCal EVO with your argument and see how many average Joe's that know nothing about tuning back you up. I think we all know that this won't happen because if you had anything factual to post you would have done it already, instead of restating other peoples (tuners) points. Congratulations, you know how to read and recite!

good luck man. i personally think these devices are useless since you can do everything in ecuflash and more that the exede cannot. that reason alone is why i would never buy one. i got a friend who is also trying to sell his.. he put his up for 50$ and no one wanted it. so good luck man

It's only a matter of time before another vendor starts selling chip torque products and the demand for these units will go up again. Just look at Cobb now. Yes, no U.S. Vendor is selling these units at this point but it's only a matter of time. Chip Torque and the XEDE is highly popular in Australia and as this technology advances a vendor here will certainly pick up where Vishnu left off.
AGAIN for the 100th time, ONLY POST if you're interested in buying...this is a for sale thread...not a discussion.
