Exclamation FS Custom Downpipe with QTP Cutout 3"

Pick-up only

SOLD
Custom downpipe for $320 OBO

Brand new... these go for $485 on QTP's site. Those don't fit on top of your braces.

It was originally a Turbo XS 3" downpipe. The center section was cut, and a 3" Y section was welded in it's place to fit the QTP 3" cut-out motor. This was done so that it could fit on top of my Carbing 6 point under-body brace. Turned out I needed to hammer some sections in on the brace, but it fit nicely.

The original motor went bad, and I bought the revised/fully-housed new version of the QTP motor. It was NEVER used. I currently have a plain Turbo XS downpipe installed in my car as I don't care for noise anymore since it is not a daily. Would love to give this thing a home!

I used to use the Y pipe (cut out) for driving around with a catalytic converter (to not stink up people behind me, including the police) while running low boost, and would switch the cut out open to run full boost. It was very nifty.

Comes with rocker switch (can be installed in a very discreet location below your steering column) and full wiring. I'll include additional fuses although I don't think they are necessary because the new motor will definitely last you!

Here are pics of it when it was on my car with the ORIGINAL motor... the new one is COMPLETELY housed in a black painted aluminum housing.

I had one made for my evo just like this. But after a while the QTP wouldn't close all the way and you could here is radle. I know the gears inside these tend to mess up. Have you had any probs with yours?

My original (old style version 1) QTP motor went bad after 2 years! lasted QUITE a long time. The gears were fine. After inspection, all the teeth were there...

It's the electric brush motor that gets corroded and stops spinning properly. You have to take them apart and spray contact cleaner in them. (The only thing is, you have to completely disassemble the QTP to get to the motor). They did that for a reason, otherwise the motor would corrode in a few months.

Here's the kicker... when I initially took the motor apart and fixed my original version 1 motor, I noticed that the size of the motor is the same size as some RC Planes. So I went to a hobby shop and got a high rpm motor to try to fit into the QTP... so I did that, and the flap opened in litterally .25 seconds... it was ridiculous. It blew the 1A fuse, so I had to drop a 3A in there.

So you probably ask... well why did you get the revised fully-housed version of the QTP motor then? Well... I didn't know that the RC Plane motor was also ****-loads of TQ. The motor cracked all the teeth off of the gears inside and I ended up having to get a new assembly. So I got the new one (as you see in the pics... I bet yours didn't look like that ) slapped her on... tested it... and then ended up turning my car into a weekend car. (hence not needing a cut-out)

There is also a chance that whoever welded your motor position, welded it in a position too exposed to the underbody. This one is fully tucked. Which is why the old original motor lasted 2+ years. I can't imagine how long this revised one will last.

My car is a weekend warrior car also. And nightly rides. No a/c condenser has a hole in it some where. So that's why I drive at night. To damn hot in Florida during the day and sometimes even at night.
Bump up for you and good convo

Ohhh didn't realize u were in FL. Sweet. I went to college out there in Ft Lauderdale (Art Institute) Roads are fantastic out there. 595 was my fav... flying passed the airport and taking that nice long right hook onto US1. the 95 in Miami is like a race track with all of the banked turns. And I TOTALLY know what you mean by the heat. My old honda didn't have A/C for a while... it was a sweltering sauna in my car. haha
