Just thought I'd check in. I'm the guy with the Evo V rs diff installed. After numerous track outings, I can report that it is working flawlessly. And it works FINE with ABS. It helps a lot, but is NOT a cure for understeer. My car still understeers at the limit (which is very high) and I am running coilovers, a 25mm rear swaybar on full stiff and NO front swaybar. I am next going to staggered tire sizes with a wider front wheel and tire. I think the ultimate for this car would be an active center diff that could vary the torque to the rear beyond 50%. Next choice would be a mechanical 35/65. Have'nt heard much about that option lately, but my guess is that it is very pricey. Might have to replace all diffs, driveshafts etc. and the car would lose some of it's awesome capability in the wet. My car is no longer as good in the rain with the big bar and stiff springs. As always, cars are all about compromises. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
Cheers,

Tell us more about the wet braking. That is my biggest gripe I have about the Evo. I loved the ABS programing in my ITR, but the Evo seems lacking. On the ITR the ABS was later to engage (seemed more so in the dry vs. the wet), but seemed more aggressive when it did (may be a bad choice of words) engage in the wet. Granted we are talking about about an extra 800 lbs. Our cars desperately need a front LSD, but I'm worried that the daily driving aspect may be slightly compromised. I do live in the dumb-*** driver capital of the world you know.

...I guess I'm afraid the front LSD may cause more frequent engagement of an ABS system I already don't like.

Quaife England asked for the small piece that the diff splines fit into to check the fit. We sent it to them and it is all good.

Quaife has the prototype front diff built and will be shipping it to us next week. We'll put it in a car and beat on it. If it is all good, they go into production. Once in production, figure about a month after that to get them here.

We should have pricing next week sometime. I expect it to be pretty close to $1100. Even if it is a little more for the list price, I'll do the first batch at a special price if necessary to reward the guys that have committed early. They will build 30 diffs (unless a bunch of additional people sign up in the next couple weeks).

Once I have firm pricing, I will set up a web page with info and pics and instructions on how to give a deposit to get one reserved. Depending on how these sell, the next batch will be about 3-4 months later.

Will there will be any install instructions to those of us who are handy with tools but newbies for diffs?
I can't afford another $200+ for installation.

I'm in. I like the benefits of a front LSD for autocross, endorsement of RRE and the lifetime warranty of Quaife.

I used to live in Austin- trust me, you have no idea what dumb *** drivers are if you think Austin people are bad... unless you're talking about inclement weather of any sort. In that case, I see your point.
