Evo 8 Buying Help Plz!!!

Hi all.

Here is my situation, im gonna get my liscense in a few months, and my dad agreed to "ok lets, get something" by "something" he meant a car. and he said, "you have to pay for 10,000 bucks of it" and i agreed. So since im paying for so fkn much of it, im gonna force him to let me choose the car.

ANYWAYS

im gona consider an EVO8, 2004/2003 whichever, and not the RS. I called some dealerships and they give me vague details about the car and tell me to come in, and do not give me prices... I asked about the EVO MR, and one of them was like "I am not aware of the EVO MR." They are such nubs, and just know that its an expensive car. They are apparently NOT willing to sell it to me for less than like, 3000-5000 above sticker price...

I just wnated to know if i can get this car for sticker price, or even less than sticker price. THX ALL for the help.

if i cna't get this thing for sticker price, or below sticker price, im gonna have to go to the dark side and get an STi.....

thx again.

The regular Evo yes, but MR is a special edition and is very likely to have a very high markup which the dealers aren't going to budge much on because there aren't going to be many made and they will be in high demand.

The STI costs more than the EVO does and trust me from experience I know that most subaru dealers are even more difficult to deal with than mitsubishi. You can pick up a new Evo for around 30k the sti is ganna be around 35 and you would be really lucky to get the MR for 35-37 due to markups on the car and such high demand.

Your better off with a regular Evo than the STI unless all you care about is what the car can do stock in the quarter (1 tenth of a second faster) , because the EVO will kill it on a full track/road coarse and it has way more mods that will take the car far beyond what the STI will do.

By the way, You must have one cool/crazy dad to fork out $25,000 for a first car for his teenage driver.

First of all... I dont suggest the Evo as a first car. Most kids these days that buy Evo's for their first car end up wrecking them. If your bound determined to get it, well then so be it, just please for the love of God respect the car and dont abuse it, and it will treat you right. Insurance is going to be a complete bizatch for you, it is going to be SKY HIGH because you are a new driver, and this is a very high performance car.

Second of all, your complaining because you have to pay for a WHOLE WHOPPING 10K WHEN ITS A 30K CAR? I dont know why, but that just set me off. My downpayment was 10k and I still owe 20k on this car, my daddy didn't chip in. Be thankful your daddy and mommy are paying for 20k and not nothing.

Like others said, the MR is a specialty car, and there wont be that many, and I wouldn't be surprised if they all charge 40k+ for this car. The STI, if your parents deny you an Evo, what makes you think they wont deny you an STI? The STI is MORE than the Evo. I went and talked to the scooby dealer and they will not budge on their price.

By the way, I'm not sure exactly what sticker is. But if its anything like invoice, good luck. And if you do end up getting this car, since it is your first, DONT ABUSE IT AND TAKE CARE OF IT. I've seen too many pictures of Evo's and other high performance cars wrapped around trees at 140.

Well, that was my .02.... all flames welcome.

if u do want an evo, go get one with low mileage because the chances are, you are a teenager with zero driving experience and zero driving experience behind a sports car with so much power... and its fact that something like 90% of first time driver will get into atleast a minimum accident in the first year..... also be aware that you or your dad should be preparred to pay truckloads of insurance fees since you are the worst of the worst drivers in everyone and especially insurance's eyes..... even a used evo is a bad idea but hey atleast it will give you alil discount on insurance as well as costing less...

Yea hopefully daddy is picking up the tab on insurance too cause its ganna run you almost as much as the car payment at your age. I would guess around 400 a month so be prepared.

Also as mentioned accidents at 140+ are very messy and don't leave survivors often.
