I'm just curious, have you talked to the maker yet?

Yup,

After sending pictures of the problem, They asked me to measure the following distance so that they can check their build spec sheet. After sending them that information as well as the spec for the stock axles I have received no response yet. It has only been a few days though (Sent a reply email on Thursday).

The only issue is the abs ring, everything else seems to fit just fine. I got impatient, rebuilt the stock axle and installed it.

The axles look the same diameter. The inner joint on the upgrade is lacking scallops. The outer joint is much larger. So, the maker must figure the axle's weak point is the outer joint. Interesting.

Did you count the number of teeth on the tone rings to see if they are the same?

Yeah, no doubt they made that portion thicker on purpose. I did not count the teeth, but I'm assuming that as long as there is a square wave picked up by the abs sensor while the car is moving, ABS activation would not occur. The speed of the wheel would change the frequency of the square wave of course.

Got an email back from DSS today. They said would try to figure it out by the end of the day.

The front wheel needs to match the rear wheel. Or the frequency will be different for a given speed and it will surely cause ABS malfunction.

I see, so that's where it gets the reference clock from. I always thought it was if there was no clocking and someone is on the brakes, ABS kicks in.

No. The ABS controller compares the speeds of all 4 wheels to determine if one or any are locking up. Our cars have 4 channel ABS, so it can actuate ABS on just one wheel if needed.

Then it really is more refined than I imagined. That explains why the whole system kinda freaked out and did something different on each brake caliper last time I spun out.

Update:

Shipped my axles for free to the drive shaft shop. A new revised set is on the way. I'll have to admit that it has been a great customer experience thus far!

Absolutely

My returned axles arrived at their facility this week. Tad Neal from the DSS told me that the replacements would be ready to ship by then. Hopefully I receive a shipping confirmation from them soon.

Good news guys,

I got the axles back and they look good now. They added shims behind the abs ring and pressed on an intermediate ring that would increase the OD of that last step so that the abs ring would fit tight around it. Very solid fix!

The bad news is, I'm not planning to install these any time soon so I'm calling it fixed since they matched the oem axles abs ring measurements now. I know it's never good to assume, but I'm keeping these as replacements for when my stockers go bad.

Notice the silver extension ring that the abs rings are pressed on. These were not there before.

Driver side is the shorter axle. Same fix done on both sides
