Hi ladies and gentlemen,

So I'm planning on switching my stock to the aluminum cover. The spec calls out a 2 step process(Valve cover bolts (2 step process)_____5.5 ± 0.5NM____49 ± 4 in lb). I've never done a 2 step process before with valve covers and not quite sure how that works, so can someone please shine in? Last question, what sealant brand do you guys recommend?

Yea thats the diagram I found. Im not using those bolts, thats why im curious to why theres a 2 step process with 2 different torque settings. What is the difference if I just went 3-4 inch lbs without this "2 step procedure"? is there any reason to why there's 2 step, why not 1 step only? sorry for all the questions lol

 

The two step is to ensure even pressure across the valve cover gasket, as is the order in which you should tighten the bolts. You can ignore the language about the Drive Fab hardware/bolt swap but the torque specs and the tightening pattern should be the same. Remember, 48 in/lb is NOT much torque!
