definitely chopped 8. The simpler the lines the better.

 

I just think the 8 looks so much cleaner.

 

I really dig the simplicity of the IX bumper. So another vote for that.

 

VIII bumper is a ton better chopped...but still too happy and swopey for me.
I like the vertical aspects of the IX.

A thread about personal taste..there is no real answer but I vote viii with DL lip. My ix came with the oem front bumper but the two holes looked like **** on a wild hog and the floating emblem annoyed me so much, first thing I did was buy a nice new viii front bumper. The 8 bumper has the more aggressive and "race car" look. While the 9 is more street/casual look. Not to say it looks bad but just not my style.

These are the two parts of an VIII bumper I can't live with. The nose chop fixes one, no way to fix the smile, though. If it were flat here, like the IX bumper, It would be fine. Then it would, basically, be a IX bumper without the "snorkels" (which I will trade off any supposed gain in cooling to have gone LOL).
I'm not a fan of smiling cars. Subaru BRZ vs Scion FRS, etc.

 

This 100%. That's why I was so much happier with the look of the 2016 MX5 than the older ones. Smiling cars look weird and weak. Thankfully the smile is much more subtle on an Evo 8 than an older Miata LOL.
