Alignment

hi
i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on an alignment setting? I'm about to get one after I get my blistein and swift spec r combo on the car. I currently have the pss tires stock settings along with a rear sway bar and bushings and It over steers at high speed. Any suggestions on the alignment? Thanks.

Hello

What rear sway bar do you have? What size is it & is it adjustable?

After your spring installation, that will change the handling

BTW, depending on your driving habits you many just need the stock settings. Here are the Front / Rear camber sets

I have the white line. I believe I have the 26 at the rear. I'm still not yet used to the oversteer from the rear bar.

That 26MM is a pretty big bar. Most of us run the 24MM. Check to see what hole its positioned in.

Use the furthest hole, at the end of the bar. That will give you the softest rating. When you get your Swift spring installed that may dampen out some of the oversteer feel

I run a 12K rear spring & that affects the sway bar size needed

I think mine is currently set up on the furthest. Do you suggest a stock alignment after the springs? Thanks .

Depends on your driving style. If youre looking for the best tire wear, stay stock

If you drive like an animal, like me, on the street you may want to do something like:

-2.0 to -2.2 front & -1.2 in the rear (standard OEM toe or go zero toe front & rear

I dont drive many miles per year on the EvO (maybe 1000)

Out of spec toe is the biggest culprit in accelerated tire wear but aggressive camber will have an affect as well

If it was my daily, I would likely choose the stock setting

Hey, I just installed those springs this weekend, do you know how long I should wait for them to settle in? My car previously had those tanabe springs and with these swifts, it seems like my car is raised quite a bit. Is that normal for it? Thanks.

Its been my experience & have run many, many sets of lowering springs. They will not settle any appreciable amount.

Heres a quick Tirerack blog report on that issue if interested. Post up a few pics of your setup so we can see the wheel gap & stance

Ok, I'll post a few when I get home. Should I just go get an alignment today then? I just don't want to have to do another later if they do need settling. Thanks.

Yes, go ahead & line it up today. If something doesnt feel right after a few hundred miles (steering wheel shake, pulling to one side) send it back in for a check

One more question. Ok I went to the shop to do the alignment and the front roll kit and the shop said they are not able to take out the right side control arm side of the ball joint and suggest replacing the control arms. I need my car and they are not able to get the oem ones. Would a control arms from napa be any good? I have a friend that said they would never buy parts from them. Thanks.

No,no,no. Our lower front control arms are forged alum. Im sure those from NAPA may just be stamped steel. I went to their website & only see a Lancer selection (no EvO) & those arms are steel
Not exactly sure what they meant by not being able to service the ball joint. Is something damaged?

Before you go any further, you need to get this control arm thing figured out. Any pics or other details?

Joe

They said the ball joint is stuck in the housing....and won't come out. They said the left one came out easy.
