People have mounted 275s on 8" rims and I have seen Rivals on them and they looked just fine to me. Now, aside from max tire you can fit on the rim, whether such tire will be OK under the fenders is another question and I have no answer to it (I am just an X guy here).

With all this said, I would try to use the biggest tire you can fit under those fenders. Going from 245x18, 255x18s are a bit wider, but shorter as well. 265x18s are the same height, but the widest if those. Since you are in EVO9, there is also option to use 255x17 as well, which would give you good width, but much lighter setup.

The height should be slightly less since the 265's would be 35 side walls compared to the 40's on my 245's. After reading around some people have to relocate a bumper tab sometimes so the tire doesn't rub on that.

For shizz and giggles here's my last autocross run from last weekend. Only complaint I have currently is some front end push and rear rotation at low speeds. Using Falken Azenis 615k+

you have a problem with both front end push and too much rear rotation? id not touch anything until after you change tires first though. and what size wheels?

edit: saw the vid - and realized this is BS that's all front end wash, sounded pretty painful. would slap on a big rear bar if you haven't already. and i don't think you can fit 265s on an 18x8 comfortably, if you're staying in BS

would also consider mounting the camera outside - i'm not a great driver but here's my last event. I think how tight your home lot is there may be skewing things towards the understeer-y side too:

I'm not exactly sure what class I would fall under in SCCA rules. I just run with a group that kinda follow the car class and if you have certain mods you would fall under a stock or modified category. I'm in the modified category. I am running 8.5 wheels also. I do have a bigger rear bar, I could stiffen it more(set in middle currently). I am running fortune auto 510 coil overs. Would adjusting the rear compression/rebound be better to adjust than the rear sway? Sorry my first set of coilovers so trying to learn the ins and outs of it.

My 265s fit fine on my OEM GSR rims. They do look slightly pinched but 255s should be just right.
