I just picked up a polyurethane front lip and was wondering if a simple sanding and clear coat would be sufficient. Or would it make sense to do a sanding > black base coat > then clear? Has anyone done this before?

 

For any future readers, I gave this a shot today. Just did a very minor sanding (1000 grit) and sprayed 3 coats of clear. It came out great!
