Hi guys,

Is there anyone here who's changed the water pump on the JDM Evo 8 know what pump fits? The Gates 42577 pump that is recommended on the forum for USDM 8's does not fit. It looks like the GWM-81A does fit. The bolt holes all line up on the Gates pump, but the water channels in the block are not entirely captured by the pump, (which sucked when I got halfway through a cambelt change!).

Use 2002 Outlander Turbo water pump.
NAPA have them.

 

Cool, thank you. Turns out that only Evo 8's made before 2004 are different. There are not many 2003 Evo 8's, so no wonder I got it wrong.

BTW anyone else searching, the correct part number for the Outlander/Airtrek and me is GMB 148-1810

 

Buy Gates pump that made in Japan from NAPA. I got it for $110? I forgot the part number though.

The GMB one is cheap quality. Believe me. I ordered 3x different online stores and only the GATES from NaPa that is good in quality.

I can call NAPA tomorrow and let you know.

 

Oh, thanks for the heads-up. Maybe it's Gates 43532? I'll have to order through Amazon (or eBay, etc), as I've just checked NAPA and they unfortunately don't ship overseas

 

Or Gates GWP1004 looks correct. May be a different product number for the same part as 43532

 

the m-81a water pump is what you want. GMB brand, prob set you back 90-100 bucks nzd.

Worse case worse PM me and i can send you the map block off plate adapter that might help you find the right pump as i had to get one.

 

Thanks guys, I'll the call the local shop (Repco) in the morning now I know exactly what part number will work. I think they stock Gates, otherwise it's I'll order from somewhere. I better buy two so I'm sorted for next time!
