Question use XMap to update V3 Firmware ok?

Anyone else use the lastest XMap 3.0.3.1 to update their firmware to the lastest V3 firmware?

The instructions call for XUpdate to upload the firmware, but I couldn't get XUpdate to connect or work. I noticed XMap had an firmware update feature, so I used it and it worked. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and did the same thing? Can someone at Vishnu confirm if it's ok?

Actually you use xupdate to upgrade your firmware on the xede downloadable from chip torques web site. Then use the latest xmap 3.0.3.1 to load the new maps.

Make sure you get rid of your xmap version2 or you will have connection issues like you mentioned. You will still get the "cannot connect to com 1", but thats just a bug in the program. I went through all this yesterday on 2 different evo's and was at the end of my rope before I got it all worked out. It was a total pain in the a$$.

I love the xede and the way it performs, but the software leaves alot to be desired.

Use X update, the firmware updater in the beta v3 software is not finished yet.

Dustin,

It worked though. I verified the info off the Xede and it has the lastest firmware listed there. I can't get XUpdate to work with the laptop. You think it's cool or should I try re-doing it with XUpdate?

It worked? Awesome! (I should read.)

As long as it shows that the firmware is in the xede, its worth a try. Make sure it takes the maps, and also confirm that it comes online.

Yep, maps are there. Everything went smooth updating, erasing, programming, verification windows, etc. Starts and runs fine. I already had V3, but it was the beta that Shiv uploaded at the last SoCal dyno tune event. I just wanted to get the latest one in there.

Noodle,
I'm assuming you used the beta 2 version of xmap v3 to update the firmware.
Thats good to know the update function works on there, maybe I wouldnt have wasted so much time messing with xupdate yesterday.

I know there's a couple floating around here on the board, but that's the latest to my knowledge.

I used what I believe is the latest one right off here that Shiv posted.

Yup, those are the newest, make sure you use the newest Xmap 3 with it. Re-import your maps with the newest xmap as well.

Hey Dustin,

Besides the better cold start another thing I noticed with the new firmware is that the fuel pump doesn't not prime up prior to starting the ignition like it did with the first V3 beta I had. Is that right? I kinda got used to hearing the pump prime up.

Yes you have to modify V2 maps after importing them. It's not too complicated. There's a how to in the tutorial.

Anyone else besides me and sr20det91 that converted from the first V3 beta to the latest V3 notice that the fuel pump doesn't prime before cranking the ignition?
