im have recently bought a 2006 lancer O.Z. rally edition.
2.0 with 5 speed manual.
MY question is where do you start with mods?
this is a 2006 and in investigating threads are mostly 04 and few 05, which most will not convert to 2006 that i am being told.
so do you start with ecu, chips, exhaust, or what to get descent power but not outrages power.

 

OO OOO i get to say it first!! SEARCH there are alot of threads on modding paths. The basics have been laid out time and again. Just go into search and then go advanced. select the US Lancer thread and search Mods or Mod Path. The basics are going to be intake, header, and exhaust. Then some suspension stuff. Road Race Motorsports (RRM) is the best in the business for lancer stuff but also the most expensive (but well worth it) Ebay can be good for some stuff but not performance peices. Goodluck

My advise to you is "You get what you Paid for"; and When you first buy parts get a approved parts by members here!! sometimes it can be cheap, sometime it can be expensive. Expensive parts are not always good but itz better than wasting money on cheap non-usable part. And when you buy parts, buy it right first time even it is expensive!!! Good rated parts can be also easily sold compare to knock off parts!!!

 

save for flash of ECU...regarding bolt-ons....as some have just said...you get what you pay for...buy crap you get crap...so keep that in mind if you go the e-bay route. just my .02

 

little of both, the lancer is phoenix red which we have added Silver vinyl dragons to the side, After the holidays we have the Vader bodykit coming in which will be painted phoenix red. Neons have been installed inside as with red vinyls accents.
after the bodkit is in play we will go with neons on the bottom as well as under hood and trunk where we have two pioneer 10's and two MTX 10's powered by two 1000 watt amps we are going all red with the glow. It has the oz racing rims which we will keep but go from yokohoma rally style tires to goodyear low tires. around Texarakana area we have some good looking cars and a ton of pooerly put together cars this one we are making is a your momma didnt by the parts car lol.

yes i have found sarcasm always helpful thanks, i think we will start with the piggy back for now and move into the exhaust then into intake and cam, as for the evo fin and Nos, if i wanted and evo i would have bought one but i dont like the awd. and i have nos on my 63 1/2 galaxie 500 fastback . If you put nos on rice that isnt cooked, close your eyes cause it is going to snow rice everywhere.

yeah, sry man, you kinda got my with the neons covering the entire car
my suggestion is to get a pulley then intake then get custom full exhaust then finally a piggy back, after that maybe suspension (coilovers) and w/e else you want exterior. you can just get a turbo and forget about the rest its ur choice

ps. im sure thats not the only reason u got a lancer and not an evo

The factory alternator sux for high draw amps. Ohio Generator for a new alternator.

Stick with the intake, axleback, Piggy, Pully, and then maybe the cam.

Deff get coilovers tho. Since you are going for show then the coilovers (Tein) will get you that drop you need.

im use to the sarcasm, everyone around here thinks evo and honda, so me getting an OZ from Dallas has everyone laughing. The OZ is a sweet car and stock will put on a good show lol, Im checking into some of the stuff mention i do appreciate the help!!! we want a west coast class car with show and go.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd just start with the turbo as being my first mod, then move from there.

 

uhm which kit are you referring to as "Vader" ? Ive seen vader type kits for other cars and as far as i know there isnt a reputable company that makes one for the lancer. Just a heads up when you post pics the guys around here are gonna rip on you for the dragons

Most 06 stuff will be the same as 05, it just depends. As for mods, we are big beleivers in doing a little to everything i.e. a little engine performance, suspension, dressup etc... Even if you are not ready to buy, give us call. We can help you get to where you want to be with your car. COngrat on getting a Lancer!
