In the end, I think the HKS oil is just some rebranding that and HKS make a cut from the sales. I'm quite sure that HKS don't have their own refinery It'll just be some standard oil that they put their name on.

Plus, I think you actually don't have rights to ban anyone, do you?

Claudius/Michaelk,

Thanks for all the advice and I'm sorry if I caused any misunderstandings.

Have ordered the bigger oil cooler so I can do more than 4-5 laps (did not dare do more than that the last time). I will post how it performs on the track (hopefully 1st week of April). Can't wait to drive Sepang looks really nice.

The HKS oil is probably made by someone else. However it is a deep green colour (not it is not coolant, I checked).

Michael,

You said to remove the shield from the inside of the bonnet vents to help lower temps, but unless the car is stationary this will not help. The vents are shaped in such away as to act like an eductor as the air passes over the bonnet. This will create an efficient way of drawing the hot air out of the engine bay. With the vents removed there will be turbulance around the hole and an increased boundary lay flow which will decrease the efficiency of drawing out the hot air. As I said the only time it would improve cooling is when the car is stationary.

The HKS oil cooler is way over priced, Mocal sell excellent oil coolers for very reasonable money, eg 25 row 235mm wide cooler for £80. Sandwich plates for about £14.

Will be fitting one soon, infact i'm having a major rebuild and mod session at the moment

Clive, I'm sorry, but I have to disagree here. You would be right if the holes would be on a flat surface, but the bonnet is shaped in such a way that the "mound" in front of the holes actually directs the air over the holes instead of into them, therefore creating a vacuum. And it also continues to both sides of the holes to prevent turbulences after the "mound". There is also gadgets available to make the "mound" higher and increase the vacuum. The shield is made for road use and prevents all sorts of dirt getting into the engine bay when the car is stationary. I don't have any dirt coming in while driving, the best example for that was when I drove the car through roads that were heavily salted, wet and left the car looking like it had icing. There wasn't any salt on the manifold cover or the top of the engine but there was salt quite high up the manifold where it would have never gotten through spray alone, but was rather sucked up to there. The reason why the fins are shaped in that way is that if they would be the other way around, hot air would be sucked out of the first fin but then maybe pushed into the next fins, or at least the suction would be weakened.
