Exactly the results I expected. The 135i is shaping up to be a really great car. For anybody who doesn't spend every day at the track or a few months in the winter driving in snow, the 135i makes a very compelling case.

The 3.0 litre, straight six, twin-turbo BMW mills have always been underrated as well in terms of power...

Just put a good suspension and stickier tires on the BMW 135i and use the extra money saved from not buying the X and do some go fast mods and it will be a different story.

If I lived in year round warm climate, I wouldnt think twice about buying the 135i over the Evo X.

Dont you have that backwards? The Evo is cheaper than the 135i.

The manual EVO X can be had easily for 33k. The manual 135i bone stock retails for THOUSANDS more.

I'm surprised that no one commented that this was also an auto vs auto comparison. The TC-SST probably had as much a contribution to the road course win as the drivetrain.

It starts about 3 grand higher - I wouldnt call that "THOUSANDS" of dollars more. Go to BMW's website and build one. If I got an Evo X, it would have the SSS package and maybe the aero kit = 37 grand. If I bought the 135i, it would be in alpine white color with and M sports package = 37 grand.

Reflash the ECU and put non-staggered wheels/tires - you've got a 12 sec. BMW with decent track capability, quality materials, and real everyday comfort.

They are similar in price. The MR is probably around 38k. The auto 135 is around 36 so toss in the 2k sports package and they are the same.

I agree with this article. If you want a daily driver to thow some mods on and take to the track a few times a year then take the 135 hands down. If you want to throw on heavy mods and race quite often then take the evo hands down.

The evo does track better on road courses but I think the 135 would be more fun. Ive read too many articles that state the evo drives for you and can make anyone into a rally driver. to me that takes the fun out of tracking. if you are a serious competitor then take the x and kick some ***. if you want to toss around a car more and work for good times then the 135 is fun.

Both cars have great autos with paddles and are a blast to drive. Just comes down to what you want from a car.
