Buschur Racing twin Walbro review w/ DLL dyno and datalogs @ 30psi 93 octane

big thanks to bushcur for making such a good and inexpensive solution for 500+awhp cars. Shipping was fast and Nick was pleasant to work with as well.

let me preface this review with some data.

I've been on the stock ecu/mas running 30psi on a BR HTA 35R with 93 octane and PTE 880cc injectors with a single walbro fuel pump plus a kenne bell boost a pump cranked all the way up. I kept adding fuel at high rpm in the ROM and eventually I got the AFR where I wanted it but the IDC was 110% peak.

I pulled the single pump and kenne bell boost a pump, installed PTE 1000cc injectors and the Buschur Racing twin walbro kit.

The kit comes with a hobbs pressure switch so that when you're off boost it only runs one of the pumps. Once you get ~ 3psi+ the second pump kicks in.

The twin pump kit uses most of the factory fuel pump assembly so the install/removal is similar but a section of factory hose is replaced with twin hoses. It's a little tricky to get it all to line up but not too bad. You'll run a wire from the battery/hobbs switch back to the pump.

Tuning was a little tricky, there's way too much fuel at part throttle but I was able to dial it in eventually and now you can't tell it has a massive fuel supply at all, feels like stock driveability again

I did a few 3rd gear pulls and DLL is showing ~500awhp currently which is good for this warmer weather we've been having.

log from that pull: looks like I'm hitting about 86% IDC now, much better.

FYI current mods are:
BR HTA 35R @ 30psi on 93 octane
HKS 280 cams
PTE 1000cc injectors
BR twin walbro fuel pumps
BR 3" tbe, test pipe, bullet muffler
BR 3" intake pipe + Mas adapter
BR UICP
BR Mini Battery
BR Race FMIC
ARP head studs
PPI ported stock intake manifold
PPI 65MM throttle body
Exedy Twin Disc HD clutch
My tuning www.mellontuning.com

The next round of mods will be:

Buschur Racing built 2.0l
Buschur Racing built head
Buschur Racing BF 272 cams w/springs and retainers.

It'll be really interesting to see how much air I'll be able to flow at the same boost after the shorty/head/cam upgrades.

yep, I have seen as high at 535awhp but that was when it was 20* outside, it's 75 or so now.

Nice numbers. Wondering does Buschur offer a 4" intake instead of a 3"?

I'm sure they'd make one but either way you're limited by the stock mas inlet size so I doubt it would help.

I'm not a fan of those things...tried a half dozen of them on my Stealth and the tune was always drifting off when the temperature changed...not acceptable.

the tricky part is identifying the bad spots, then it's just a matter of leaning out the fuel map where necessary.

I finished the fuel tweaking this morning, slightly leaner across the board:

Awesome data! Great to see those results on the stock MAF. I've been following your progress from the begining. My build is mirrored to yours.
